Suburban park with great views
Jun. 2021
Our family of four (including two children 8, 11) hiked 2.5 miles, along the West Ridge Trail, the Notch and the Yucca Path. There are some great views particularly on the West Ridge trail, but as you might expect when you're up on the ridge line, there's minimal cover (remember your sun protection!).
There are a multitude of trails, but they are not marked.
Parking is limited to be prepared to park elsewhere.
The park is ideally suited for many activities, from hiking, biking, running, but can easily become overcrowded.

Colorado Springs Suburban Natural Park
Jul. 2020
Went hiking here and it has quite a few different routes you can take. The parking area is small and I would recommend locking your vehicle because of news stories I've read about thefts breaking into vehicles as people go hiking in certain areas. The park is located in the north western part of Colorado Springs. It offers some nice views and there were quite a few people who were biking on the trails versus hiking so if you enjoy biking versus hiking the trails offer that.

On this trip we just did about a 2 mile hike but there are quite a few trails to enjoy so I will return to see more of the park. There are some neat rock formations and saw some pretty sunflowers during our hike.

From the I-25 & Woodmen exit I would estimate you are only about 10 minutes away from this park.

A large suburb natural park
Mar. 2020
A 200 acre natural park, a lot pine trees, and several sand stone hills, valleys and some grass lands. Very good for hiking and bicycle riding.

Get away in the city
Apr. 2019
I really like ute valley park. There is some great hiking, biking and running trails. It is a great park to explore as the park trails are laid out in circles, so it is very hard to get lost. Its so nice and quiet it feels like you are out in the woods far from civilization.

Overused and under policed
Sep. 2019
The park is a nice spot of nature in the city. People and their dogs, however, make it undesirable at times. Too many irresponsible dog owners let pets off leash (despite a leash law!), and some can be aggressive. The other problem is the mess that dogs make and owners who do not pick up after them. Some of the trails can be hazardous due to mountain bike riders with their own needs in mind. In general, the park is overused and the parking lot overflows with cars. If you want solitude and a nice nature experience, this ain't it.

Really nice hiking
Aug. 2019 • Friends
Had a great time doing a loop hike (some of us ran) at Ute. The parking was easy, the views were fantastic, and at 6am this was pretty uncrowded. Highly recommend.

Great Place to Hike or Bike

The is a very pretty park, although trails can be confusing. Years ago spotted a rattlesnake but we were able to avoid it.

Nice getaway, yet still in town
May 2019 • Couples
Ute Valley Park is on the western side of Colo Spgs. There is plenty of room in this park, and it gives the feel of being more isolated. I would recommend being alert when out on the trails, wildlife encounters are possible. Not a thrill seeker destination, but a nice park, and big enough that you do not feel crowded.

Beauty in a mountain town
May 2019 • Friends
It's a sprawling park in the middle of town. Lots of trails for hiking and biking. Parking on north side with another overflowing parking lot nearby. The ridge can get windy. The lower trails are more shielded and warmer in temperature. Some of these are single track and can be easy to difficult. Look up the trails on MTB Project app as there are many forks and turns.
