The Starsmore house had lots of hummingbirds out back, and the Helen Hunt Falls were lovely.

A must see for Colorado Springs Visitors.
June 2020
Absolutely beautiful area. A must drive through for visitors. Suggest everyone drive in through Cheyenne canyon, visit Helen Hunt falls, then go on up to park at the Seven Bridges/St. Mary's Falls trail head. Seven Bridges Trail is great and beautiful for tourists but if you want a more challenging and beautiful hike, do the St. Mary's Falls Trail back to the water fall. It is a little work and a moderate hike (vs. easy) but the Falls with the water coming down a 100 ft. rock wall is beautiful. Then after the hike drive north on the dirt Gold Camp Road. The views from Gold Camp Road over the top of Colorado Springs are spectacular and you drive through two tunnels from the Gold mining days. This road leads to Highway 24 which is the main east/west highway through Colorado Springs.

An array of beautiful hiking spots
Dec 2019
Sometimes, I don't realize how spoiled I am living in Colorado Springs for the variety of hiking options. You can reach North Cheyenne Canon Park via Lower Gold Camp Road. Once at the park, there are a variety of hiking options. As noted below, a lot of people take the Mt. Cutler trail. When I went, I did Helen Hunt Falls, which can be very precarious during the winter. If it was not for the handrails to hold, I must likely would have slipped on the ice multiple times. I also had an opportunity to hike the North Cheyenne Canon Creek trail. I highly suggest the trail; however, when I went, it was too cold to hike and explore the entire trail wearing just a hoodie, so please be advised to dress for the elements.

Something for any and everyone
June 2024 • Couples
The Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center is at the start of this city park. It is a hands-on activity area and a wealth of information. The drive to Helen Hunt Falls is lovely with many branching walking trails. Very special and worthwhile. Enjoying the falls are a given, but so is the delightful visitor center chock full of informative displays, information about Helen Hayes Jackson, hummingbirds, specimens, and much more. Easy to see hummingbirds by the feeder to the left of the steps leading to the falls. Something for any and everyone.

Gold Camp Road is the way.
June 2021 • Family
Hiked to Helen falls via the Gold Camp Road. It was not open all the way through. The dirt portion of the road was beautiful with great pull-offs. The kids loved driving/walking through the tunnels. The hike past the first falls to the larger falls was not too far, and they had benches and look outs.

Cold and snowing so visit was brief
Mar 2020
We just drove through this beautiful park up to Helen Hunt waterfall. Lots of people out with dogs taking hikes. An amazing wild park with lots of hiking trails so close to the city is a wonderful treat. We will return in June and take a hike. Us older Texas folks don't like cold and snow!

Beautiful hike for all ages!
June 2022 • Family
Our group of 11 consisted of two around 50yrs, two around 30yrs, a teenager, and 6 children (ages 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 1). The one-year-old was in a hiking carrier. We hiked to the top of the trail. The views on the way up & down were beautiful, and so was the view at the top. Afterwards, we hiked on a trail to a picnic area to have our lunch. This is a beautiful place to hike!

Lower Columbine Trail
July 2022
Wanted to get out and about but because I've been having issues with my piriformis, didn't want to overdue it. My husband found this trail that is not strenuous and runs along the creek. It was perfect and beautiful. Even though I lived in the Springs for 3 years when I first moved to Colorado and did a lot of hiking around here, I'd never been to the Starsmore Discovery Center nor the trails that you can start at from here. I'd heard of the Starsmore just never made it over there. The visitor/discovery center is in an historic house that was actually moved there. It's a beautiful place from which to start. When we came back, we stopped at the creek and got our feet wet. Perfect if you have little kids or just want something nice but not too long or too strenuous.

Great Visitor Center and Trails
June 2022 • Family
We went here on a spur of the moment impulse and went back again the next day. There are may well marked trails; some are easy and others a little more challenging. The folks at the visitor center were really helpful and friendly. We did the Columbine trail the first day and then drove up to the top of the park to see the falls the next. If you want to see the Helen Hunt falls, drive up there and then walk around: don’t hike up there from the bottom. Terrific scenery and very quiet. I’ll definitely return to see other trails.

Beautiful
Aug 2023 • Couples
Extremely beautiful area! A drive through it is very impressive, but the hiking trails are also worth it! Advice at the visitor centers is a bit poor, but there are maps and then you just have to try things out.
We were there on a Saturday morning, it was quite busy, especially mountain bikers, so you have to be very careful!
There are also supposed to be bears and many other animals here that you see every now and then. That's something you should know.
We found the Helen Hunt waterfall, the Buffalo Canyon Trail and the South Suburban Reservoir particularly beautiful.

Great Hiking
Mar 2023
Have visited Colorado Springs several times in my lifetime, yet this was the first time visiting this park! We loved it. Went on a weekday over spring break, and we arrived early. We nearly had the park to ourselves. So peaceful, and away from the city noise. Much preferred over Garden of the Gods area.
