Welcome to Pikes Peak - America's Mountain! The Pikes Peak Highway entrance...

Welcome to Pikes Peak - America's Mountain! The Pikes Peak Highway entrance is conveniently located 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs on Highway 24. The beauty of being so close to the city is that you can spend your time enjoying the mountain instead of getting to the mountains. Plan for your round trip journey to the summit to take 2-3 hours.

The safe, scenic highway provides you the opportunity to enjoy Pikes Peak at your leisure. From the gateway at an elevation of 7,400 feet, you'll encounter some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world as you wind your way through an alpine wonderland of scenic beauty, mountain reservoirs, beyond timberline, overtaking the clouds...All along the way to the 14,115 foot summit of America's most famous mountain.

Along the way, you'll discover the North Slope Recreation Area, Crystal Reservoir Gift Shop, Historic Glen Cove Inn, and the Summit House. There are three lakes for fishing, picnic areas, hiking trails, and breathtaking views. Stop and watch one of our "Meet the Ranger" Interpretive Programs and learn about the history, myths, flora and fauna on the mountain. All offer visitor services and basic necessities to make your day both enjoyable and memorable.

Scary drive but so worth it! Just take it slow and don't look down! Worlds best donuts when you get to the top!

I had taken the cog rail and drove to the peak, during my last two visits. This time, I drove, and was happy to enjoy a paved drive to the top. The views were amazing with clear views over 50 miles, easily! I decided to buy Boost Oxygen at Dick's Sporting Goods in Thornton, CO after I landed, and I'm... More

People complaining about the price, you know the price before you make the drive and if you ask you can know if it's open half way up or not ASK FIRST AND DON'T COMPLAIN WHEN YOU GO WITHOUT ASKING. We went today and it was amazing we had a blast and plan on returning. Yes the price is different than... More

If you have asthma, or any other type of breathing difficulty, this probably would not be the trip to make. The views are breathtaking, and there's no other place I've ever visited that was so beautiful. The drive up consists of many switchbacks, hills of up to a 10% grade, and curves along the way. There are no guardrails. Coming... More

It's not called America's mountain for nothing! This is a must do in the area. The temperature at the top will vary wildly from the base so be prepared. Although t's not for the faint hearted or nervous drivers it certainly felt a lot safer than a previous drive on Mount Evans Scenic Byway. The views (on both the way... More

We enjoyed driving up Pikes Peak and the return trip. In September it was cold and very windy up at 14000 feet so dress accordingly. If you drive up it is better to time your arrival before or after the cog railroad to avoid long lines at the restroom, restaurant and shops I was a little annoyed by the fact... More

During our lunch we were looking at our options for the rest of the day. We had planned our trip to give us a wide berth so as to not run out of time. We did Garden of the Gods the last two years in a row in Colorado Springs. We did the Manitou Springs cliff dwellings last year. We... More

The location of the 19 mile access road was further west than we thought. There is a $12.00 access charge for each adult, collected at the entry point. Advice is also given about driving up and down the steep road (use lower gears on the trip down, limit use of brakes, etc) which contains multiple switchbacks. The climate also changes... More
