Well maintained and scenic trail along the Arkansas that my wife and I enjoyed a lot. The beginning of the trail is VERY steep for about 100 meters, so you may have to walk your bike, but then the next 2+ miles are very level...More

At the start of the trail, there is a small area of steep climb, but it quickly levels off. The hike is very easy because the ground is almost completely flat besides the beginning. The tunnels are also a cool part of the hike. Looking...More

My finance and I walked this trail and was so thankful we did! By far this was the most beautiful site that we had ever seen . Walking along side the Arkansas river was so peaceful . There were benches along the way if you...More

Well maintained trail, fairly nice scenery. Completely horizontal trail. Good place, close to Canon City, for a nice, easy hike.

This is a very tame yet stunning trail. Incredibly well maintained, and with a pit toilet st the trailhead. There are also some picnic benches along the trail. Two miles each way and all with the Arkansas River in view. Some really cool tunnels to...More

I really loved this hike in Canon City. We stopped after our visit to Royal Gorge and got some great pix and views. We were told this Tunnel Drive used to be water pipes taking water to Canon City and maybe even Colorado Springs. Now...More

In spite of the wind, we enjoyed a very nice stroll along this relatively flat and easy path (after the initial ascent). Seeing a bighorn sheep and cactus blooming were unexpected treats. This would be a great place for a family picnic. Hopefully, the trail...More

It can be hard to find Tunnel Drive, and early on it's not necessarily obvious there's anything worth stopping at...but keep on to the end where there's a small, well-maintained park parking-lot (with restroom facilities). From there, a steep but manageable climb becomes completely level...More

This place is so beautiful! Very remote area to hike/walk. You can hear the river from up here. About a 2 mile long trail, one way.

We must be slow hikers but it took us about 3 hours to go to the end and back.

Is the trail open now? I saw it was closed in Feb 2016 for construction. I wanted to take my son tomorrow. March 24, 2016

There is construction equipment in the area and you will have to be careful to stay out of the way if they are working in the area. I was there on a weekend and no one was about. Given the recent snow storm you may not... More

Hello, We would like to go in May 2016. Do you know if the construction will be done by then. Any other helpful hints on finding the trail head? Nothing is worse than driving around looking for it. thank you so much.
