The trip to the Rio Celeste is very nice and everybody staying nearby should definitely visit it. The park opens at 8 am and the earlier you go the better since there won't be too many people and it's not too hot. It's a nice round walk trough the forest. We walked to the spot where the two colors meet... More

Definitely worth going. Pretty touristy place but nevertheless very nice place with the blue Rio Celeste and the waterfall in brilliant blue. I dont know if the colour of the water depends on the weather but most of the time the sun is shining most of the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Parque Nacional Volcan Tenorio! I was directed to park in a lot where I was charged 2000 colones to park in (and I'm not certain there's anyway around this considering the road is not maintained) however the $12 entrance fee is well-worth it! The park includes a 7km semi-strenuous hike (often muddy yet well-marked... More

This place is breathtaking !!!!!! I wanted to jump in, but they don't let you. You can, however, drive back down the road and jump in on the side of the road.

Booked a full day trip from Arenal but seems one can arrange everything at the park entrance. From Arenal is about 1,5hr drive. The last section is mudy and slippery and little steep. We had a guide, who showed us the trails and explained about flora/fauna. You can rent boots before the entance (highly recommended as its rather dirty/mudy at... More

Thanks to the air full of water carried by the clouds coming from the Caraïbes, the Tenorio National Park is amazingly lush. The primary rainforest is dazzling green and full of wildlife. The Rio Celeste meanders in the valley then drops in waterfall before continuing its way... Coming from the surrounding volcanoes, the River is naturally charged in minerals and... More

We recently stayed in Playa Flamingo in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Being so far out on the beach made us really wonder whether it was worth the 2-2.5 hour drive out to see Rio Celeste. Since we hadn't seen any rainforest, we decided to give it a shot. It was totally worth it. The hike was slightly challenging but my 7... More

We stayed in La Fortuna and drove our rental car to the park. Awesome ride! The hike was slightly strenuous, but the waterfall was well worth the trek. We didn't walk the rest of the trail because we had plans. The waterfall was the first stop so that made it quick. Check it out!

The drive out to Tenorio Volcano National Park was beautiful. We paid $2 to park and $12 per adult and cheaper for kids. There are clean restroom facilities at the entrance and also 2 restaurants. The path is well-maintained and the hike is beautiful. The waterfall is the 1st stopping point on the hike (lots of stairs to get to... More

This place is like no place I have ever seen! It is unbelievable and the water reminds me of something out of the movie Avatar. We did a tour for just the four of us and learned all about the flora and fauna. We spend about three hours there and left about 8 am before the crowds. It actually is... More
