Cool to see the history but should have more focus on his life and highlight all that happened because of his efforts. The suggested $5 donation was fine but could be a little more updated in the tour for that.

My wife and I spent some time in Breckenridge while our van was being worked on. In addition to the free public transportation in the county, we were pleased to find this very nice house that had been turned into a museum. It is free,...More

This is an interesting piece of our history, preserved for those of us who have never heard of Barney Ford. We had a great guide and the house is small so the tour goes quickly.

Prior to visiting the area, we knew nothing of Mr. Ford's fascinating life! His contribution to Colorado's history and his community were substantial. The museum is delightful and well maintained with period pieces and Colorado history! It's also free, a donation jar was available but...More

The museum is free. It is well laid out. A video gives good background, as did our hostess. Barney Ford was a very influential person in Colorado history.

This was the home of Barney Ford, the "Black Baron of Breckenridge", quite an amazing individual. He was an escaped slave who made his fortune in Colorado in the middle part of the 19th century and became one of the richest people in the state....More

We've been coming to Breckenridge for several years, but never went to this museum until this trip. The Barney Ford story is quite incredible, and this little home is beautiful and informative. Be sure to ask the tour guide questions! Ours gave us lots of...More
