We recently attended the amazing "DeVotchKa" concert with the Boulder Philharmonic which was our first time attending an event at the Macky Auditorium (at UC Boulder) and we were really impressed with the venue and the beautiful campus of UC Boulder. It is such a lovely building and setting, and although we had pretty good seats, in close proximity to the stage, I feel that you would get a pretty good view from basically anywhere in the auditorium. It's a really wonderful venue and we will be sure to attend more events at the Macky Auditorium!!

Don't miss an opportunity to take in a concert at historic Macky Auditorium. Featuring major performers, the program schedule is rich, varied & impressive, such as Deborah Voight's recent one-woman show, which was superb & perfectly suited to the elegant yet intimate setting.

Macky is a beautiful hall BUT be aware some seats are inferior. One might expect the box seats on the sides of the hall to be good but in fact most seats in these boxes offer poor views of the entire stage area. In addition, sitting higher in the balcony is really bad both from a listening and viewing standpoint. The back of main floor is under the balcony overhand but some might not be annoyed by that. Having listed all the negatives, I should add that most seats on the main floor are fine. Sound in my opinion is not exceptional but is certainly acceptable. The beauty of the hall makes up for most deficiencies.

We saw Yo Yo Ma here. Fantastic experience. Well organised, sufficient facilities and a gorgeous historic building. Lovely to take a walk through campus during the intermission.

Saw Manhattan Transfer and Take 6 in concert recently. Oh my!!!
Being an avid fan of the Transfer since the 70s, I really enjoyed their excellent a capella renditions in the style of Lambert, Hendrick and Ross. Their "scat" is excellent and reminds me of so many songs by Ella. Of course, "Killer Joe" is always a delight to hear. Their syncopated rhythms on "Birdland" is tremendous. It is sad that Tim is o longer with them, but his replacement who hails from Wyoming and Greeley, CO, more than adequately stepped in the founder's footsteps..
But what was even more of a happy surprise was the musical integration of Take 6 in their recital. It was flawless as to how the two groups could sing and harmonize. To hear ten voices on that stage was just a joy! The highlight was hearing them play their instruments and singing Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed."
Simply put, I was overjoyed to spend an evening with Manhattan Transfer and Take 6!!

Just got to see Tommy Emmanuel in concert at Macky, and not only is it a gorgeous auditorium, but the acoustics were so amazing, we could hear Tommy talk even when he wasn't using the mic. The seats do a curved rise to the back, making every seat a good one. Will look for many other events to attend here!
