We arrived in Boulder and our first adventure was the hike up from Chattauqua and the Rangers cottage to the flatirons. It was a good hike with some challenging climbing/hiking over rocks but magnificent views and more than adequate places to rest along the way...More

One can see immediately how appropriately named these mountains are....they are incredibly beautiful. Although it is possible, I suppose, to glimpse them from a car, you really need to hike up the trails to appreciate them.

My gps kept taking me to neighborhoods so I only saw the flat irons from the road. I was cool but really could’ve used signs to get to the park. Had a great drive around Boulder anyway.

Right in Boulder, great exercise. Be ready to get your heart rate up if you just flew in from no altitude. Very challenging (people I was with are very fit and fast) and convenient location.

So unusual to open the drapes at my hotel and see such a massive mountain side with the distinctive irons!

There is street parking that's free if you want to start your walk earlier. Talk to the ranger/docent at the visitor center. He or she will advise. There are definitely flat trails in the meadows that are very pleasant... More

We were there much later than April when the weather was very warm and all the walks were available. Looking at the answers from other contributors it could be a problem or you may strike lucky. Sorry can't be helpful.
