Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just visited the Roxy for a concert by Skylar Stecker. Skylar is a very talented 12 year old who has lot's of young fans. For many in the crowd this was probably their first real concert experience. You would think the staff would change a gear or two and be little kinder with the young audience in the club and act accordingly. It seemed like they treated everyone in the place like it was 2am on a Saturday night although it was 1pm, on a Sunday.
If you are going to host younger fans please make the adjustment to make their experience a positive one.

Fun place to see a show. Quite small, so get there early if you want to choose your place. If you can, swing VIP and get a reserved table.

I'm writing a review because I have been trying for over a week to speak with someone, anyone at The Roxy and have been unsuccessful. I emailed twice and called at least 20 times at all times of day. I am currently disabled and needed to confirm seats would be available for a comedy show tonight. I've already bought by ticket but sadly, I won't be attending since I don't know if I'll be able to sit. Very disappointed. Really unbelievable they don't respond to an email when I explained my situation.

We attended the Buckcherry concert on August 19, 2011. While the bands (3 all together) were great, the experience overall was not what we were expecting.
I purchased the tickets online. They were general admission tickets. I contacted the proper person to discuss the possibility of getting the "VIP Package". The lady sold it to me... She told me when our general admission tickets were scanned at the door, the bouncer would be alerted to our VIP package purchase and we would be taken to our table. This was untrue. Our tickets were scanned and we were shuffled in. No big deal. However, when we approached the man guarding the VIP booth section he rudely told us we were not permitted in that area. We tried explaining to him for about 15 minutes that we purchased the package. He basically told us he had no idea what we were talkng about. Instead of finding out for us, he sent us to fight the crowd to get back outside OUTSIDE to the will-call window. The rude, pierced, bored looking girl at the window told us it must have been a scam and that our tickets were general admission and sent us back inside. The guy we had talked to in the first place came out of the back with "the list". He found our name on it and quickly changed his tune with us. He sat us at our booth that had big RESERVED table toppers on them.... with the VIP people's names on them...... Annoying.
Having our own waitress was the ONLY benefit to sitting in the VIP section.
Our package was for 2 people; we had to jointly spend $150. The lady that talked me into the package said it would not be difficult to spend that with two people, as most people plan on eating dinner at the Roxy... Plus drinks... I figured being in West Hollywood it wouldn't be hard. We got our menus and it was bar food. Mozz sticks, jalapeno poppers, little pizzas. We both settled on chicken strip and fries baskets ($8/basket). Anywhere else, I would have been excited for the cheap food. But that was only a $16 dent in the $150 we were supposed to spend.
We had some plush booths to sit in, which was nice. Until they let more and more people into the venue and they had nowhere to go but into the VIP section. So if we sat in the booth we payed $150 for we were unable to even see the damn band! By the 3rd song Buckcherry sang we were sitting on top of the booth's back, against the wall so we could see what was going on. The waitresses struggled to get through to the VIP tables to bring drinks.
The only bathrooms were located by the main door. People were unable to even put their arms by their sides because there were so many people in there... making it physically impossible to get to the bathroom.... So in my head, what if there was an emergency? Someone got hurt? Or had a heart attack? Or there was a fire?? Unsafe.
Overall, it was not all it was cracked up to be. The people were extremely rude (besides our waitress) and the PR person I talked to about the VIP package was very misleading.
The bands rocked, our waitress was nice and the fact that there is history at the Roxy (John Belushi, John Lennon, etc.) was the only thing that made it OK.....
However, we will NEVER go back.

I love this small Los Angeles venue for enjoying the music life. It is always a great date night for my husband and me to enjoy dinner and music at the Roxy.

I was visiting Hollywood so wanted to take in a show at one of the legendary venues on the Sunset Strip. This was SO MUCH FUN! Saw Bonesteel opening for Adelitas Way.
The venue is intimate and small. There are a few tables available if you want to sit and enjoy; however, it's best to be on the floor, up close and personal, with the stage. It's a low stage so you are face to face with the musicians. Doors opened at 8 for a 9 PM show. Price of admission was beyond reasonable for the quality of entertainment. Drinks are pricey by my standards; $11US for a whiskey. I love supporting live entertainment and wasn't disappointed. Adelitas Way was FANTASTIC. There are eats and drinks along Sunset Strip to partake in prior to the doors opening.

Went for a "private" concert there. Small and intimate- luckily the audience was a low key group. Bigger-mosh bands- I'd imagine it would be much different!

How early should I get to my concert if I want to be at the front? The show starts at 8.
