Enjoyed my first visit to Lake Mendocino this afternoon walking the length of the dam and back. Watched Eagles soar overhead and ducks and geese lounging on her banks. Saw fish taking bait from the surface at a distance. The view was clear for miles and the sun warm with a slight breeze. Peaceful way to spend a couple hours.... More

The water is shallow. It has plenty of picnic tables. It has a park like atmosphere in Pomo area. There is a small swing and slide in a small playground. Lots of are to camp with tents. Many bathrooms that are clean. You pay $5 for a day of picnicking. There is not a sand area. My kids had a... More

Visited in November, very empty. Just visited again in June after a healthy rainy season, boats and swimmers and campers have returned! Even so, plenty of room to accommodate one more party in the day use area (actually, could've accommodated a few more), even mid-afternoon on a beautiful sunny Sunday (Father's Day, even!). We had a table right next to... More

The lake is great to take a walk on the dams or go out in a boat. Nice family place. Enjoy the ducks and geese. People fish and swim and jet ski too.

As we were driving we had to stop to look at this beautiful lake from the road. The view was great. Looking out over the lake, very relaxing and peaceful.

The lake is at historic low and almost looks like it did before the dam was build and highway 20 went through the coyote valley. Boating is limited until winter rains return. A visitor's viewing point is located at the dam and can be accessed on Lake Mendocino Drive off Highway 101.
