I'm sorry to hear of barefoot hippy's troubles. When we got married The Lighthouse lady explained to us that we could only have 10 people at the top as that was all that was allowed by the registrar for a Marriage Ceremony. We had a...More

I have a zero tolerance to abuse of staff on my premises. Trip Advisor has been used because this couple were shamefully behaved not able to intimidate staff. Clearly stated on the outside and inside of the Lighthouse stating that large camera bags are not...More

We were in the area so thought we would take the kids to the lighthouse. It’s a long way up, very steep at the top, but if you are careful ok to take your kids to the top. The view is worth the effort. Reasonably...More

Visited yesterday on a warm a clear day. After paying the modest price we climbed the lighthouse stairs. This is a bit scary in places if you are scared of internal heights, but if not scared of this it's a doddle. There are different things...More

Thank you for your kind review. I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit. Readers should know that there are four windowed floors on the way up to sit down or read. Doesn’t have to be climbed all at once - it’s a big lighthouse. Best...More

This is a very interesting place. It's by the sea, but there are signs everywhere telling you not to go in the sea as it is too dangerous.More

We call it a moving story. The shingle moved anti clockwise from Hampshire and is particularly strong at Dungeness where the beach leaves the south and progrades the east side. The shape of Dungeness continually alters. It’s not Advisable to swim as the current is...More

Sometimes when there are no visitors we often sense we have company in the sector room or below the gallery. Always pleasant. Maybe the memory is held in the bricks.

Dungeness is like nowhere else in England - some of my photographs of the derelict boats, rusty chains, washed out looking sea kale and ancient railway carriages have an air of unreality about them. The old lighthouse is at home here but visitors may ask...More
