Set against the backdrop of the power station, the old lighthouse is stark and striking. A beautiful building with extensive views at the top of the 169 stairs. Well worth a visit.

Disgraceful attitude by a member of staff at the Railway who has been spoken to about attitude problems by the management. Absolutely untrue. The Lighthouse was manned by a very reliable member of staff who was unavoidably late. We are very sorry for the disappointment....More

This is one of our favourite places to visit. We have been here many times and often bring friends who visit us. It is so different from anywhere we have visited. So eerie. The starkness of the power stations just add to the atmosphere. It...More

We all love it too for exactly the same reasons. Sometimes we can almost feel the presence of the old Lighthouse keepers coming down the stairs. Time slips away so fast, the keepers children used to come and tell us what a happy childhood they...More

I often look at the old photos in the Britannia. The Old Lighthouse keepers children used to visit and tell what a happy life they had had. All rather primitive accommodation by today’s standards of course. The Lighthouse has seen so many changes but it’s...More

What great value to visit a 100 year old lighthouse. You can walk all the way up to the top (169 steps) and go outside to see some fantastic views. The final bit are very steep stairs. There is plenty of free car parking.

Nothing special, a trip up the stairs a view of the sea at the top and the old lighthouse gubbins, what do you expect? It's an old light house.

A spectacular view of an amazing desert landscape. 500 shingle ridges. Five buried beaches. Fresnel Lens, sector lights. Did you see France, Pevensey, Dover. Any of that !

That’s Dungeness for you. It’s an SSI site and RSPB. No homes derelict here. Most cost 300K. Yes the Lighthouse keeper packs up at around 4pm. When it’s chilly and cold in October there are no customers. It’s a VERY VERY safe place. Any nuclear...More
