We have started going to Temecula for some wine tasting and on this particular trip we located Mount Palomar which was listed as one of the top 10 in Temecula. The grounds are so pretty but the day we went the guy serving us at the bar did nothing in terms of telling us about the wine. All he did was pour. They had a fairly extensive list of wines but wouldn’t ask us what we liked. In all my years of wineries in the USA and Europe, I have never experienced the poor service and experience as we did at Mount Palomar. The wines were some of the worst I have ever had between both whites and reds. Of the four of us, none of us were pleased with the wine or the experience. We were talking to a staff member at a different location and described our experience and she knew the guy we were talking about and mentions she had gotten terminated from a different facility in town. We had 6 tastings and after the 4th one, we wanted to walk out and forget it between the quality of wine and experience. Would never recommend this winery to anyone.

I chose The Restaurant at Mount Palomar due to the numerous reviews stating they served the best food of all the wineries. Now that I've experienced it firsthand, I do believe it is true!! There were 5 of us and we ordered the octopus, shrimp pasta, mussels, charcuterie board, chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, green salad with salmon and we ended our meal with the tiramisu. Everything was delicious!! There was a wonderful sax player that played not only jazz, but R&B, soul, yacht rock, etc. He totally elevated the already fun and energetic ambiance! We even danced! We had the BEST time and can't wait to return! Highly recommend!

This was such a disappointment. The website says tasting room is open till 6. But beware, they stop selling tasting cards at 4pm. But the real disappointment was the restaurant. The nearly empty restaurant ( only 4 other couples were seated when we arrived for our 5:30 reservation, we were a party of 6…so a total of less than 20 people?. Although we were served appetizers ( 1 charcuterie board) quickly our dinner was not plated and served until 7pm. The food was good but there really is no justification to call your service a restaurant if you cannot serve that few of people in a reasonable amount of time.

My first visit to Mount Palomar was with a group on a weekday as the winery tasting room opened at 11am. Our server was quick to inform us that in addition to our group of 20+, she also had a member arriving with 40 guests at the same time...and she was the only one working! Our group always gives wineries the heads-up a day or two prior so they can plan their staffing accordingly. So that welcome didn't feel very warm and sent the message (intentional or not) that an existing member and their guests were going to take priority.
So although I had planned to do a tasting, I opted for a glass instead to simplify things since our server seemed harried, even though I was among the first few to arrive before things got busy. I struggled to find a red that I enjoyed, so after a small sip of three wines, I landed on a glass of Vernal Equinox 2016 (a Zin Merlot Cinsault blend). It was just ok, but definitely not great.
The indoor tasting room was nice but small, so we sat outside. Being a cool morning, I had to search and find someone to turn on the one heater on the patio. We definitely could have used a few more heaters... The winery is situated on a hilltop with beautiful views and nice grounds. They have a restaurant which we didn't try.
I feel this might have been a better experience had there been an adequate number of servers to enable more of us to do tastings. It surprised me that I didn't like three of the six reds they offer, as I always seem to find something that appeals to me at other Temecula wineries. The lone server didn't really engage or give us any information on the winery history, operations, restaurant, etc. Consequently, eight of us left to enjoy lunch at another winery restaurant (the new Vienza at Europa) which was excellent!

First, I would like to say we've been members for almost 3 years. Our first few years were great, and we enjoyed watching the construction, and looked forward to the renovations that were happening. It has turned out just beautiful! The last 4 times we've been in, we've noticed a change in the service at the restaurant. The wines have been just OK. But the winery pourers we've had were great, especially, The Dude, Tim & especially Rhonda. We live in OC, so it's not really close to us, but we decided to try one of their events, The Hawaiian Luai On Sunday August 18. We got our tickets, got a place at the Pechanga, and also decided to try their brunch as we had never tried that either. To say the least, both were disasters! It took 45 minutes to finally complain about where our food was. He forgot, he admitted. Food finally came & it was cold. I sent it back & waiter said he would comp my order. I ordered the chilaquiles which were horrible. Soggy Chips with 1 egg. Then we decided to listen to the band "Still Kicking". Excellent! In fact, all the bands we've seen there have been great! We got to the winery at 5:30 pm for the event which was from 6 to 9 pm. Finally, around 7, they told us the buffet was ready. WE all get in line going up a hill to the buffet, and in the meantime, the show started! We missed 4 different dances that we couldn't even see while in line. WE finally get up to the food & they're running out of food. I had to give my husband some of my chicken, and he didn't get any macaroni salad. This was a ticketed event, so they should have been prepared with enough food. We got to see 1/2 the show & then the fire dancers came on for over 30 minutes. They didn't start the raffle till 9:15 pm. This event was so unorganized I would never go to another event there if it was free! We are seriously considering stopping our club membership. Sad because it is a beautiful winery with gorgeous views. So disappointed.

I recently had the opportunity to visit this restaurant a couple of times, once for dinner with friends and once for a brunch with my mom. It did not disappoint! It is a truly beautiful location. I really appreciated the service we received from the moment we arrived. Both times we were seated right away and the server checked in on us frequently. Both times the food was absolutely delicious. It was good to know that they do both brunch and dinner well. Compliments to the chef! The drinks were great too. We ordered mixed drinks from the menu and not wine. We will definitely try it next time. We were also pleasantly surprised to see that there was live music. It definitely added to the experience. I will definitely be coming back to eat here and will update if I try the testing room.

Amazing service courtesy of Chef Jon & Cole. Just the right amount of hospitality from both guys. Also, the food at the restaurant is nothing but lovely, chef Jon nailed the shrimp scampi exactly how I had in Milan.

My husband and I were quests at my niece's wedding here at he end of November. This place is exceptionally beautiful and the backdrop with the mountains is stunning. My only complaint is that not being a wine drinker, I asked the bartender for a Pina Colada on the rocks. It was terrible. You would think that an upscale venue such as this would have knowledgeable bartenders. Other than that, the service was wonderful.

Great place to pass a nice Saturday. Good wines, good music and really good food. The charcuterie plater and the white wine mussels is a must to try. (Forgot to take pictures of the mussels)

Visited a girlfriend who used to live in Napa, with me. She chose Mt. Palomar for a tasting while I visited her - and it was fabulous. Came home with a bottle of Rose, Brut and Sauv Blanc. Otherwise, they have a very nice variety of reds as well. Highly recommend!

Hi there-I am in a wheelchair-we drove into your parking lot and it looks like we have to walk down hill to get to the winery. It would really be a push to get back up to the parking lot? Is there another way to get down to the tasting room and restaurant? Thanks, Linda
Written 22 June 2016
I disagree. There is a wide turnaround at the bottom end of the parking lot adjacent to the entrance walkway. We saw several vehicles drop-off and pickup people with obvious mobility difficulties.
