Meeks Bay is definitely the best beach on the west shore of Tahoe. They have two entrances. The north end has a snack bar and very busy beach scene with beach toy rentals. The south entrance, or better known as the campers beach, is less crowded but equally as nice. We like this end of the beach best. There are... More

The campground is steps away from the white sand beach. Volleyball courts are at the ready. There is a little snack shack overlooking the beach and the bright blue water of Lake Tahoe. Back in the campground: each campsite is covered with wood chips to reduce dirt and dust. The shower/bathrooms are very clean. Campers should take note that no... More

Nice, clean beach with a great view of the lake. Parking is $10 a day. But watch out for the bees. We got some food from the snack shack (which was nothing impressive) and within minutes of sitting down we were surrounded by dozens of bees. Not kidding, literally 50 of them. Made it impossible to eat our food and... More

20.9 miles from South Lake Tahoe and worth the drive! Not too busy, but with crystal waters and sandy beaches. There are two carparks you can use. The 1st belongs to the National Parks and is $8 for the day. You can also use Pope beach, Baldwin with the same ticket. The other car park is $10 per day (camp... More

For those who plan to visit Meeks Bay Campground (and anywhere around) in Aug/Sept 2016, please pay attention to the yellowjackets/wasps problem. There are a lot of them around and could be a huge trouble when camping or having barbecue. Do check local news or search online for related threads before you visit.

This is a great beach to visit on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. We took our teenagers along but were disappointed to find that the Kayak rental was closed. I would advise taking some beach kit and umbrellas down there as there is very little shade. There are some big grills to cook food on which seemed to be... More
