Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to this winery during a Platypus Wine Tour and had a great time! The lady was very knowledgeable and taught us things didn’t know before. The Zinfandel port was my favorite, yum!!

As previous writers have mentioned, a plus was being able to sit for the tasting. Their tasting did include 6 wines, but the various blends while fine didn't wow me. I had hoped to try more of the varietals Sonoma is famous for such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay neither of which were on their tasting menu. The old vine Reisling was particularly popular, and I enjoyed it,but having been to Germany's Rhine/Mosel it did not surpass the wines from the areas famously known for the varietal. They have a personal style with various blends, unfortunately for me it did not match my personal tastes (and I'm not a preferential white wine drinker, I tend to prefer reds especially Chianti, Bordeaux, a good Cab, and Malbec) .
It's a small more personal winery, but left a small impression (I often like enjoy/prefer small ops so it is not a preference for large industrial operations that colors this opinion).

We visited this winery on our Sonoma wine tour.
This was the smallest of the 3 wineries we visited.
I admire the fact that owner started the winery from scratch! This is virtually unheard of. It certainly shows his commitment and passion.
The tasting was fun and not intimidating at all. The wines were unique and really good. Varieties of reds and whites are available.
They bottle approximately 3,000 cases a year which is very small, but this also show that "boutique" wineries have a great place in our homes as well.
Definitely go check Homewood out. You will be pleasantly surprises and will probably see the owner himself. He's really an inspiration to the American Dream!

We visited Homewood with a group of about 15 people as part of a full-day wine tour. There are some genuine positives about Homewood. First, it's a small operation on less than an acre of land. We were able to meet the owner and he was very friendly. Michele ran our tasting and did a great job. She was informative and adjusted the tasting to what people in our group wanted to try. We had the opportunity to try some very unique wines, including a 100% Cabernet Franc.
On the downside, the winery sources most of its grapes from others. (I'm sure the owner would say this is an advantage!) This means you're not going to see the sweeping vineyards you may expect of Napa. There are very few rows of grapes. Additionally, my husband and I did not personally like the wines compared to other California reds. The wines at Homewood had a lower alcohol content and didn't have that sweet punch of other wines we like from the area. However, this is just personal preference - most people in our group loved the wines.
I would recommend Homewood for people visiting the area who want to experience something different and less commercial than so many of the other wineries in the area.

Stopped here on a Sonoma wine tour. Really enjoyed the six wines we tasted. Unfortunately, can’t ship them to Canada or I definitely would have shipped some home.

They wouldn't ship to the UK without charging thousands! We were on our last day and couldn't fit anything more in our luggage so we couldn't take anything with us. Very bad planning.
The ex-pat Brit was very humourous and explained the varieties and types of wines expertly. Wish we could have taken some with us!
Hope everyone is safe from the fires.

While I don't pretend to be a connoisseur, I do enjoy wine and appreciate it's complexity. This was our first trip to 'real life' wine country. Because my husband was apprehensive and didn't want to be judged, we opted for a half day trip to Sonoma (instead of a full day private tour). This was the first (of 2) wineries that we stopped at, and I am so happy that we did! It's a small winery (I guess this is what they mean by 'botique'), owned and operated by one man. The story of how he got into wine making was admirable and interesting, and he even popped into our tasting to say hello! Our guide Maggie-I think, sorry!-was patient, informative and friendly. We never felt rushed or judged, it was perfect! So perfect we bought several, SEVERAL, bottles of wine. Is their wine the 'best', or most 'complex', or most 'expensive'? Who knows?!? All I know is that it was tasty and we enjoyed drinking it. Plus, any place that devotes that much time and dedication into their product and customers, is worth checking out and DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY worth supporting!!

We enjoyed the red and white wines here but by far the ports and dessert wines were the best. We bought the Zinfandel port for $30 a bottle because it was delicious and unique. We visited several wineries in the region and did not find anything to compare...love the port!

We loved this small winery with it's intimate outdoor tasting room. Sampled 5 wines, which were included in our tour (Incredible Adventures) and then we were offered two other wines to try for $2 a glass. I would highly recommend you try a glass each. They were delicious!
We ended up buying two bottles of each (they took the $2 off since we did) And we purchased a case of the petite Shiraz.
They will ship it home for you, for a fee. But it's something you can't get at home, so if you find a wine you like......get some!

My husband and I decided we could afford time for one stop at a winery. We are glad we chose Homewood. We are not connoisseurs, so no comment on the wine itself, but we had a nice experience. The staff was very friendly.
