Anaba Wines was founded in 2006 by proprietor John Sweazey when a decades long dream came to fruition. Early inspiration and trips to France in the 1970s helped shape the vision, varietals and vibe for the vineyards and tasting room.

Anaba's name originates from cool, upward-flowing anabatic winds that soar and swirl through its sustainably-farmed Carneros Estate vineyards. Gifts of nature, these unique air currents make the vineyard more temperate, slow down the ripening process, and allow the grapes to develop more robust flavors and distinctive varietal characteristics.

Anaba Wines became the first winery in Northern California to utilize wind power when it installed a 45-foot wind turbine to harness the anabatic winds. This wind turbine generates electricity for Anaba's tasting room, wine storage, office operations and irrigation pumps for the two estate vineyards.

The Anaba tasting room is a charming, recently-renovated 100-year-old farmhouse that provides an intimate and unpretentious tasting experience in which to enjoy Anaba's award-winning wines. Anaba's limited edition, superior quality blends and single varietal wines include Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Rhone-style blends and an excellent selection of dessert wines.

Since the very day Anaba opened, we have returned annually to enjoy their Pinot Noir wines as well as their dessert wines. Joel seated us and was ever attentive throughout the tasting. He is knowledgeable and was extremely courteous. The day was beautiful so we savored our wines on the patio overlooking the vineyards. Our time spent there was rewarding...

This is a great stop for a salon tastings of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Rhone & Dessert wines! Their tastings are in a nicely restored, 100+ year old farmhouse. The place utilizes wind turbine power, has a beautiful porch and back deck overlooking vineyards and the valley.

Anaba wines is cute and quaint. The wine tasting had six wines and they added an extra red wine. We had excellent service from Susan and enjoyed our experience out on the patio overlooking the vineyard.

We had an appointment for 10:30 and Joel seated us when we arrived. As he poured our first tasting, he stated "just let me know if there are any wines that you want to taste that are not on the list and we will see what happens" and then he laughed and followed up by saying "what am I going... We stopped here on the drive into Sonoma from San Fran. The winery has excellent Pinot and a few whites were enjoyed. The covered patio and little garden are beautiful!

On our first trip to Sonoma, we stopped at Anaba for our first ever Sonoma wine tasting. We drove from the San Francisco airport to Sonoma and stopped at Anaba before we even checked into our hotel. Joel was our tasting host and he couldn't have been more wonderful. He not only expertly explained the delicious wines, but gave us... More

Spent part of the afternoon tasting wine at Anaba Wines. Really nice little winery. They offer a nice variety of wines ranging from Chardonnay to Pinot and Sirah. Topped off with a late harvest Roussain. The setting is very relaxing and the view of the hills surrounding the vineyards is wonderful. They had a 2 for 1 tasting offer, so... More

We had an awesome time learning about the wines and tasting all sorts with Joel hosting in late April. Each wine was unique with excellent qualities. Subperb experience; enjoyed it all on their beautiful patio. Joel was a lot of fun and knew his stuff. We spent at least an hour enjoying the breeze, the patio, the tasting list and... More

I generally don't care for white wines, but every white we tasted at Anaba was delightful. Not what you would expect at the typical winery. That does not mean that they are strange, just good. Example: not your usual buttery whites; instead crisp and refreshing. Their reds were very nice too. Anaba is at the turn off to CR 121... More
