Good photo op, but not worth the hike
Jun. 2018 • Solo
I visited Kirby Cove beach, hoping to see the famous swing but to my disappointment, it was no longer there. The beach has an amazing view of the bridge but there are no water fountains near the park, making the hike up the hill even more brutal.

Magical cove
May 2018 • Friends
We walked here after our traverse across the Golden Gate Bridge, it's a lovely quaint beach with so many beautiful photo opportunities. Ate snacks, enjoyed the fresh air, the gentle surf, and to our surprise were visited by several deer on our hike back out of the grounds. It was quite magical and I had a great time.

A descent hike to get there
Feb. 2018 • Family
So while it is not a long walk distance wise, the hill and windy path is something to consider. That said, our 6 yr old make it all the way done and back on his own. Our 4 year old made it down and 3/4 of the way back in her own. The path was very wide giving ample room. Beach was fun to run around on. Lots of rocks and dark sand. Steeps you need to climb down before you get to the beach. Also road is gravel so would not recommend a stroller. We had a great tome and I’m glad we went but would likely not have enjoyed it if the kids couldn’t make it mostly on their own.

No Swing but great Picture Ops!
Nov. 2017 • Family
We went for the swing, which is gone but it's a great little hike anyway. So pack a picnic lunch, eat at the cute campgrounds (yes there's bathrooms), then go to the beach and take awesome pictures of the bridge and the gorgeous surroundings. I think it's about 2 miles. Insta: @lltravelmel

No swing - prepare for long walk up the hill
Sep. 2017 • Couples
Very beautiful - yes but be prepared. The swing over the water is gone (it is entertaining to watch people try to find it for their perfect picture however) and it's about a 2 mile walk down and worst - back up.

No water at the bottom so pretty much a death march to the top if bringing children and beach stuff.

Saw one guy snuck through with his car to the bottom but gates got locked when he wanted to leave so was stuck at the top gate for the entire time we were there. Pretty funny. Maybe not for him.

Beautiful view

We had stopped here to take a rest during our bike tour. Absolutely beautiful.
It was also a popular spot for photos.

Favourite place
Sep. 2017 • Couples
That place is one of my favourite place in SF. There is a swing on the beach, you can take beautiful photos there. How to find it: Cross the GG Bridge and take the Conzelman Road and drive up to the first Vista Point. You have to park there and then you will see a sign Kirby Cove Campground. Follow that road for about a mile. You can go there without car too!

Swinging by!
Jun. 2017 • Couples
There's a swing on the beach which is cool for photos as Golden Gate Bridge is in the background. It is about 1.5 miles stroll from the parking area. Parking is very limited so be prepared to walk a mile or so before you can find parking. Please be sure to keep the beach clean so others can enjoy the beach as well.

Kirby Cove Beach Swing - Views of the Golden Gate Bridge and SF
May 2017 • Couples
I live here in Marin, and hesitate to tell the world about this super spot on the ocean 'cuz it needs to stay clean and unspoiled by crowds. If you are willing to respect the preciousness of this little beach, here's what you'll find:

Take a swing over the ocean, and look out at SF from below the Golden Gate Bridge. Watch the ships sail in and out under the bridge. Birds, foghorns, rocky cliffs, sea lions, and the pounding Pacific Ocean. It is so extraordinary!

To get there, you'll have to walk nearly a mile down on Kirby Cove Road, through mature eucalyptus and cypress trees. Check the weather from the top, before heading out. This spot is often very windy and foggy, bitter cold! Bring an outer layer windbreaker and you'll thank me. Pack a picnic, and bring your trash OUT with you. There is NO WATER at the beach or campground.

Parking anywhere in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area is usually packed, and with the tunnel construction ongoing, concrete barriers blocked all the parking lots on our last visit in May of 2017. We drove another mile up to the roundabout, where there is a small lot. Alternatively, park down towards Sausalito, off Alexander, and walk up to Kirby Cove Road for your hike. The Muni from SF also comes here on a limited schedule.

There are picnic tables on the bluff, and an outhouse towards the campground. Camping is by advance reservation only.

Enjoy!
