Fremont Older is a great place for a walk or a moderate hike. The trails are broad and easy to walk on and depending on choice, they can be scenic. On the weekends it can be crowded and finding a parking place can be difficult. It could be a hike for the car to the trails. Sometimes parking at the... More

I go here because it's a nice hilly hike close to home and dogs are allowed. It can be hard to find parking at certain times and the upper parts are not shady. There are hikes of all lengths, including 6 miles round trip to Stevens Creek reservoir.

I am most familiar with starting up behind the Garrod Farms/ stabling area (which is fun as a destination itself). The trails range from 3 miles to over 8 miles. Fremont Older is a great place for relatively short hikes with good wild life and bird watching. Coyotes and bob cats can be seen usually early mornings. I saw a mountain lion in 2001 Weekdays are the best time for hiking because the mountain bikes are fewer This park is a good place to walk your dog. There are some... More

It's a wonderful place to hike. It's also dog friendly ON a leash. I've been here many times in different months so the scenery changes accordingly. Paths are pretty well marked. Some are more strenuous than others. It's really a lovely area for hiking or walking. Plan on an hour and half.

Great place to hike on a cool or cloudy day as Fremont Older is primarily a meadowland/chaparral with little tree cover. You can find hikes here from 1 hour to all day if you extend into the Stevens Creek Dam area or over to Picchetti Winery. Hikes from the main parking lot begin uphill through oak forest, opening into meadow... More

This place is a gem. Fantastic views and best viewed early in morning or during a clear day. Parking can be tough.

GREAT hike, very close to us in Saratoga area. We enjoy regular hiking here, and love going over to hunters point which is the peak there and on a clear day you can see as far as San Francisco and Oakland. The part kleading up to the top of the peak is sort of barren and no trees, so on... More
