Anyone interested in plants will enjoy this site commemorating the work of famed horticulturist Luther Burbank, who introduced over 800 new plant varieties, including the Idaho Potato. The site includes an acre of gardens with many of the naturalist's creations, a beautiful greenhouse he built in 1889, and his Greek Revival home.

I stop here everytime I vista Santa Rosa, there is something peaceful about the place that gets you motivated to work on your own garden. Easy street parking and do not let the surrounding area stop you from visiting.

Learn about the many hybrids and plants that Mr. Burbank spent his life developing and how the various fruits and vegetables we see in our supermarkets today may have a start years ago in his green house. Enjoyed the varied rose bushes, the trellis of leaves in the garden. Enjoy the docent tour and the great house.

An educational experience for everyone. My biggest surprise was of how many of the common plant foods we take for granted we first grown and developed by Mr. Burbank.

Make sure to book a docent tour because you will learn so much about Burbank's botanical experiments and the successes we have become accustomed to seeing in many gardens around the world.

We thoroughly enjoyed our docent guided tour through the Burbank garden and home. We learned about how Burbank created many plants by pollinating them himself. He was an amazing man!

It doesn't take much time and is quite interesting, especially if you are into horticulture. We learned a lot about Mr. Burbank and his enormous contributions. Pair up with breakfast or lunch at Dierk's Streetside Cafe, a really good place waking distance from the house.

Paid the $10 donation per person to have the guided tour through the house. Very much worth the time and money. The house was very special with many small details and items; most of which were from the personal collection of the Burbanks. However, the real reason to be here is to view the 1.6 acre gardens. There is much... More

This was truly a gem of a find. Burbank was an incredible botany wizard that very few know about. His work with so many plants, both decorative and for food, was truly amazing. It is a must see.
