Escape to Africa by way of Sonoma County…Come discover the Sonoma Serengeti. The classic African safari is a trip of a lifetime for intrepid travelers from around the globe - and, it is closer than you think! The entire Safari West experience is a kid-friendly adventure for families to enjoy together. Our tours are designed to educate guests of all ages and we have found that families are truly inspired as they learn from and share with one another. At Safari West we strive to actively promote conservation and environmental education concepts to our guests, whether they are with us for an hour or a week. The whole experience at Safari West is one of building connections and making discoveries; getting back to basics and enjoying the profound simple pleasures of family and nature that are all too often overlooked. If anything is “not to be missed,” it is that sense of serenity one finds while gazing at graceful giraffe nuzzling her newborn or the surge of raw adventure while witnessing an energetic herd of wildebeest galloping across the horizon. Overnight lodging is also available - the true 'glamping' experience!

Four of us (4 adults in a family) stayed one night at Safari West (June 15), in a 2-double on Antelope Alley. It was a very enjoyable experience overall. Guinea hens run free around the property, making us laugh with their territorial antics. There are...More

Having spent some time in Africa I was impressed. It was in the 90's but there was plenty of shade and umbrellas were even provided. The animals seemed well cared for and the assortment of wild birds like flamingos and ibis were really nice. It...More

Thank you very kindly for this review. You sound very much like one of my fellow Safari West employees. We work hard to make this place truly unique and something above and beyond what is possible in most zoos. We cherish all opinions, but when...More

We had a wonderful time at Safari West. We actually did the package where you go on safari, have dinner that night, and then spend the night "glamping" in one of their tent/cabins. We enjoyed every bit of it. The most impressive part top us...More

Our granddaughters had a great time. It is a fun place for young children. The only complain I have is when we took the tour, only couple of giraffes and zebras were out. It could be due to the weather. Kids were a little disappointed...More

Our guide was awesome. Very attentive. We saw lots of animals, but not as many as expected. The giraffes were so awesome and my husband and I got a great selfie with one.

I think you would have to take Lyft or Uber to get there - it's not really near anything where a regular bus route would run. You can also spend the night there.
I was wondering if it is worth the trip to just spend the night and not take the safari tour. Can you still see the animals? My children and 4 and 2, so it wouldn't be possible to do the classic safari anyway, but I know they would love to see the animals.
