Weight lifters still strut their stuff at this outdoor gym where, in the 30s, 40s and 50s, crowds would gather to watch young men and women honing their bodies, some of whom, like Vic Tanny and Jack LaLanne, went on to fame in the fitness world.

I have been to Venice beach multiple times. It never gets old. It is always entertaining. It is a great place for a walk. It is a very busy place on weekends and parking is hard to find. But, it is definitely worth a visit....More

Iconic landmark of Venice Beach. Worth a pop in to see what's happening - probably better in the summer months. TIP: If you don't want to pay the high price for parking, park in Dock 52 (free) in Marina Del Rey, walk down to Fisherman's...More

For reasons lost in the haze of local politcs, the designation “Muscle Beach” was moved some years ago a mile or so down the coast from Santa Monica to Venice Beach. Pay no attention. The original Muscle Beach, a few yards south of the Santa...More

The area where the exercise equipment was, was disappointing, There were mainly men exercising. Photographers beware - Later whilst walking on the boardwalk area we overheard (I believe said loudly so that passers by would hear) that the person speaking felt that tourists taking photos...More

The pervasive odor was weed and urine. Homeless men and women find a place to crash on the beach and grassy areas. The boardwalk is lined with gift shops selling cheap, sleazy merchandise. No one was working out on the late afternoon when we visited.

The one guy was there, homeless out numbered weight lifters 50/1. Homeless outnumbered tourist 2/1. This was my first time back since 2000 and it’s lost it’s glory. I don’t like getting hassled every 10 feet for money.

Venice has always danced to its own beat as the
epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along
the boardwalk there are street performers and local
craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings,
souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of
visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting
enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders
do their tricks around the skate park. All of it

No breakfast at muscle beach, just a place to work out and or see fitness ! Try the pier, but only has trendy food .
