Visited quickly one afternoon during a trip for business. We walked around for a few hours, took lots of sunset pics and ate lunch.

Ubered out from West Hollywood to The Pier which took 40min with minimum traffic.Nice atmosphere but lots of odd people hanging around. Just got to be on guard. Security screen checks to get onto the pier which meant lining up. Rode on the roller coaster...More

Considered to be one of the tourist places to visit when in LA, though it was rather disappointing. There are some restaurants and the amusement park that will entertain you however there is also a considerable amount of homeless people in the area. This is...More

It's not the most sophisticated of experiences and there is the odd odd person hanging around (but no more than the rest of LA and no sense of being unsafe) and we enjoyed it. People selling tourist stuff (fine by us because we're tourists), mid...More

We visited on a beautiful day in October and a lot of places were closed and the Ferris wheel was fun but not worth the money. If you’re in Santa Monica it’s worth a visit....but it shouldn’t be a destination.

This was my first trip to California. I was told if I visited Hollywood to be sure and visit the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. These two attractions are just a short distance from Hollywood. The Pier and beach is beautiful! There are plenty...More

The pier was an excellent idea. You can take in the sunset, watch for whales or dolphins. The Ferris wheel is so neat lit up at night. Fun for all ages. They have places to eat, ice cream, candy, even a man playing a guitar.

As a British couple visiting California for the first time, we had heard great things about Santa Monica. Whilst the town itself was quite nice to wander around, the pier was not very pleasant at all. Brighton pier back in the UK is much nicer...More

A must for every one visiting L. A. Impressive construction, look at the wooden beams and floor. Bring something to drink because the charge you an arm and a leg for a soda.

This pier is really packed by tourists and locals alike. Right there by the beach a long alley fully loaded with all kinds of shops and restaurants. In addition to that there is a riding wheel and a roller coaster. The scenery is just perfect.

First go to Venice Beach, spend around one hour at Skateboard and the market. Santa Monica pier is worth spending more time. Spend some time on beach also. Later you can go to 3rd Street Promenade. You can use Uber to move.

Hi Cisko. Sorry for my late answer. I didn't see any and I am not sure if they are allowed any, but I saw police in there, maybe you can ask them?
