Santa Monica is such a beautiful city with lovely parks and great shops and restaurants, but I am not sure I will return again or even recommend your city due to the homeless population. They occupy the parks and attractions and what's even worse they approach you and beg on the streets. It is a very uncomfortable situation.

After living in Santa Monica for 27 years, we moved out about ten years ago. The traffic and lack of parking had become so terrible that we could stand it. We used to go back for the movies and shopping, but the new emphasis on bike lanes and bus lanes has taken even more street surface area away and it... More

Stay away from Santa Monica Parking facilities unless you want a possible parking ticket. I ventured there a few years ago, purchased a parking ticket at the Pier and instead of putting it on display in the dash, my wife put it in her purse. We promptly got a 60 dollar ticket. When we sent the ticket stub back to... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
