About
Our estate Margarita Vineyard stands alone as the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles region, tucked against the Santa Lucia Mountains just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Here the vines unfold along a rare array of five distinct soil types- ancient sea bed, rocky alluvium, shale, volcanic and granitic. The resulting wines express an unmistakable sense of place with flavors that are native to Margarita Vineyard and its stand alone Santa Margarita Ranch Sub Appellation. Ancient Peaks Winery is owned by three longtime local winegrowing and ranching families- the Filipponis, Rossis, and Wittstroms. Two generations are actively involved in the daily operations of the vineyard and winery. Our downtown Santa Margarita Tasting Room & Cafe offers samplings of our wines as well as wine-friendly cuisine including artisan cheese & meats, sandwiches and burgers, and salads.

Lots of wineries seemed to be up there in cost with bottles $50 and up. This winery isn’t like that. Low key laid back and fun staff.
Just a nice relaxing place off the beaten path ( 1 mile off freeway lol) to enjoy a tasting or bottle. We like Zins and there’s was very good at $22!

We visited Ancient Peaks following our zip line adventure. We had the best time! They had nice tastings for only $10, and a wonderful lunch menu that was justs amazing food. Our server Justin, was absolutely wonderful! She was so knowledgeable and so very friendly!! We live next door in Paso Robles and will definitely be back to enjoy the wine and food, and hopefully Justin!! :-)

They are not doing wine tastings. Only a few of their wines are available to taste and only by the glass. Of the entire list we were shown, I think maybe 3 were available by the glass. When I researched their web site, I noted at least 3 red wines I really wanted to taste. Those were only available by the bottle. This was our 12th winery we visited on this trip and everyone else had regular tasting program, just outside. Too bad for Ancient Peaks. We buy wine.

My husband and I stopped in today for a tasting and decided to have lunch as well. I have to say this is one of the most amazing places we’ve been to! Our server Christina was absolutely wonderful! She new the wine, offered such amazing service and is on top of so many things as we watched her hustling in so many different tasks. We took home a bottle of their Cabernet Sauvignon and can’t wait to enjoy it! What a hidden gem they have there!

Excellent total experience. We were able to have a trip to the ranch and then back to the tasting room. What can be.said about a ranch of 14,000 acres and a wine production over 1000 acres. Kyle was our hospitality host and the experience should be appreciated. Don't rush this one, savour the experience like a fine wine, and it definitely fine wine

My wife and I had the pleasure of sharing a bottle of the 2017 Renegade wine and a charcuterie plate at Ancient Peaks winery. It is not too common to find a tasting room that provides substantial food along with the wine tasting; Ancient Peaks has hit on a winning formula. We were impressed with the wines Ancient Peaks produces, especially considering the price. As you can see in the picture, the large charcuterie plate is very generous, with 3 types of meat, 4 cheeses, and assorted accompaniments; you also receive a warm loaf of delicious bread. While its a little out of the way from Paso or San Luis, if you are on the move between these 2 places, it is well worth your time to stop and taste/eat at Ancient Peaks!

We went for lunch after ziplining and loved the wines! Renegade red blend is delicious! If you don’t want to do the tasting they also have a monthly special of a specific glass of wine that you can buy for $7 or $8. We had the roast beef sandwich and soup and salad combo. Both top rate! We’ve also had their charcuterie in the past which is a great choice too!

Visited this winery for the first time and was very impressed with the quality of the wines on offer. Also found several of the wines to be very reasonably priced for the quality, although their top-of-the line blend, at $60/bottle, was disappointing. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the lunch we ate out on the deck was delicious and also reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Central Coast area.

Highly rated wines that actually live up to, and in many cases exceed, their ratings. Super nice tasting room staff. if you are driving it is easy one/easy off the 101.
