Hi, This sounds like you were at the Santa Barbara Sea Center, which is located on Stearns Wharf, and not the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, which is on the Breakwater in the Harbor. Greg Gorga

Purchase tickets in the gift shop before entering the museum. The gentleman taking tickets was very welcoming and explained a map of the museum. Allow an hour for viewing and don't forget that there is a second floor.

Many of exhibit areas focus on Santa Barbara's contribution to, or involvement in, specific areas of maritime history, whether deep sea diving equipment, surfboard technology, or nearby shipwrecks. The museum includes special exhibits...More

Surrounded by restaurants and the marina the maritime museum is a great place to visit. There are many excellent exhibits you can even experience marlin fishing on a simulator. Don't miss the periscope, this will give great views out to sea and on land.

This museum is much smaller than some similar museums we have visited in the past so it can be done quite quickly. I especially enjoyed seeing the light from a lighthouse that they have on display. Be sure to take the elevator to the fourth...More
