After learning some history of our town, I decided to visit the first spanish settlement - El Presidio de Santa Barbara. This visit changed my awareness of the rich cultural heritage we have here - Chumash, Spanish, Mexican, east coast settlers and Asian American immigrants....More

Just sent the evening at El Passo with my family and we had a great meal. The food was very nice and the staff very friendly. The restaurant is very spacious with an open roof that can also be closed. Definitely recommend this place to...More

Would have liked to have actually toured the place, but the front desk welcome center service was non existent. We walked in, and for 20 minutes nobody was manning the register to take our fee. Ok, so we took pictures outside and called it a...More

If you like history then this is worth a visit. It doesn't seem to be very popular which can work to your advantage.

You get some great photos and views from here. Beautiful building, and not far from the Orange Tree Inn

A rather small and mediocre exhibition (being currently under refurbishment). OK, if you need to kill an hour but not too informative and exciting.

Church is beautiful and El Presidio is just a bit more detail in the history of Spanish occupation of the area. Largely reconstruction and not all of it great, but there are some original building parts. A visit here adds more texture to learning the...More

Well preserved Santa Barbara historical site. Part of downtown. Easy to find. Quick to enjoy . It was once almost surrounded by what once was Santa Barbara' historic Chinatown section . Remnants of Chinatown can still be seen.

My wife and I came late in the afternoon, but were able to see everything in 30 to 35 minutes. We did not spend too much time reading the display information, but still enjoyed the experience.
