You can walk the different areas and appreciate the investment to make this garden native to the place. I like to walk through the Redwood Grove and up to the old dam on Mission Creek thinking of the history that this place has.

We visited the botanic garden near the Mission. The area is lovely, relatively quiet and wooded. However ,we were expecting something more beautiful. Botanic gardens in other cities are often exclusive and enjoyable. There were very some flowers in bloom, except in the meadow at the entrance. Although it was pleasant walking through the redwoods and down in the canyon,... More

We visited the botanic garden up in the hills near the Mission. The area is lovely, relatively quiet and wooded. However after $12 entrance fee we were expecting something more impressive, especially as botanic gardens in other cities are often free to walk through and enjoy. There were very few flowers in bloom, except in the meadow at the entrance.... More

My son and I visited the Gardens during a recent trip. We were able to bring our lunch and eat it at one of the benches located throughout the place. Although we could stay only about 1 hour, we quickly chose to go to the top of the trail across the road - and were rewarded with a fantastic view... More

This doesn't even compare to other Botanical Gardens and yet it's a $12 entrance fee no matter if you get there an hour before they close. This place is somewhat of a joke. 2 stars for the birds and deep canyon.

Tucked up into the hills above the mission, this a gem. Particularly beautiful this year due to the profusion of blooms. Wish I had more time to enjoy the whole property including the new hilltop section.

The exhibits of local plants from sequoia to lupine are nicely presented in a quiet spot with miles of trails. The new Pritzlaff Conservation Center offers hilltop views of the gardens and the Channel Islands. Birdwatchers will be happy too.

I joined a friend here last week and I must say I was surprised there was this gem in Santa Barbara! I loved the variety, and having the gorgeous mountains as a backdrop was breathtaking. I would come here every week if I could. It's the perfect place to bring a lunch, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy nature in... More

The map was hard to follow and the signs were not clear. Can make a visit as long as you want to keep looking. It was interesting to see the top of the redwood trees and the flowers were in full bloom. We had limited time so did not cross the road to see the views. The gift shop was... More

This is a great walk through the natural habitat of Santa Barbara. the spring flowers were vibrant and lovely, much more to come in the next week of two. This is the time of year to take this in. The views are beautiful. Very enjoyable.
