I've been to Hearst Castle three times over the last fifteen years or so. My son and I visited a few days ago while in Pismo Beach. They've changed the tour so you only see certain sections (upstairs suites tour, grand rooms tour, etc.) instead...More

We had read so much about buying tickets before you go. But, on-line prices carry a ridiculous fee. We took a chance and got everything we wanted right on the spot. They were busy, but there were plenty of tickets available. We had a small...More

We last visited this site 40 years ago when there was only one tour and only partial access to the rooms. We have been wanting to come back because we enjoyed it so much before and we knew that a lot more rooms were now...More

Wow.....what an amazing place, history and life story. The 5mile bus trip up to the 'Castle' incredible. We arrived an hour before our scheduled tour and they nicely changed the time for us. Just as well as started at 12.55 and didn't leave until 6pm....More

From the beautiful gardens to the crystal waters of the pools, Hearst Castle was an experience not to be missed. The tour was well organized, and it helped to watch a video history prior to starting off on the tour. There was plenty of time...More

We had been to the Biltmore in North Carolina and wanted to see Hearst Castle as well. It is obviously smaller, but still impressive. We didn't want to pay the $8 per ticket fee for ordering on line, so we waited until we go to...More

Because they let you roam the grounds for as long as you want, as a concession. I assume. Route 1 is still closed north of here. But a worthy excursion regardless of you are heading up the coast.

Visiting the "Casa Grande" as Randolph Hearst called it, leaves you wondering how it must have been to be a guest at this amazing place. The grandiosity of the place, the breathtaking views of its surroundings, leaves you in total awe. Highly recommend a visit....More

This tour should not be missed. Kudos to California State Parks. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. Even my 10-year-old loved it.

Should be very close. Maybe an email to Hearst castle would resolve this. We were there a couple of weeks back, it was very close.

Yes, there are several tours (I think 6 or 7). I would recommend the general Grand Rooms tour first. It's the one most first time visitors take. You will see the main building and have access to the extensive gardens and... More

I'd give much more time than that. First, it is a twisty road and you won't go much more than 35-40 mph on average. Second, the views ar so distracting you will want to stop and take pictures. Third, and most important, as... More
