We enjoyed our quiet Thanksgiving here. Nothing is open, so it was very quiet indeed. We have visited the mission when things are open and it is delightful. We make the mission and staying at the Posada de San Juan a destination annually.

Beautiful large church with 3 aisles (most of all the missions). Look for the animal prints baked in the tiles on the floor of the church. Gorgeous grounds and gardens to explore.

So quiet, so solemn, such a hidden gem. No matter your religious or spiritual belief, if you wait for it, your soul can reveal itself to you here. The antiquity of this place and its artifacts are nothing short of reverent. My docent on duty,...More

Lots to see and real buildings! Some beautiful furnishings. Lots of great light and shadows to take interesting architectural photographs.

We enjoy going to the California Missions and imagining what it must have been like back then. So hard to imagine coming all the way from Spain and then building the Missions with the help of the native americans. The gift store is interesting and...More

Mission San Juan Bautista has a peaceful atmosphere and a beautiful view onto the valley below. We were unable to enter the church because it was locked. The little town is a fun place to spend an afternoon.

not all calif. missions are alike. mission san juan bautista boarders a historial state park. the mission charges for entry. I feel that since it borders a state historical park it should be free or accept donations. but it is a lovely mission to visit.

I was also mostly interested in the Hitchcock "Vertigo" connection but the inherent historic significance of the mission buildings was compelling for myself, husband, and 7 year old son. Good displays of artifacts and explanation of the architecture, use, and significance of the rooms. Breathtaking...More
