The City National Civic is managed and operated by San Jose Theaters, a division of Team San Jose. Built in 1936, it is a Spanish Mission style dual-level venue that hosts a variety of events including concerts from major touring artists, as well as a variety of other events (e.g. big-name comedians, sporting events, business conferences). A major, multi-million dollar renovation led to a grand re-opening of the Civic in October, 2012. In December of 2013, its name officially changed to City National Civic. The Who kicked off their first headlining tour of the U.S. here in 1968. This historic venue has also hosted The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand and many more. FAST FACTS: * 2,850 seats (flexible seating plans available) * State-of-the-art sound and HD video systems * Stage size: 112' x 35'

There is really not a bad seat in the house in the Civic. Nicely restored vintage venue that has that old time exciting feel that you are going to see something special. Look to the seats on the sides for the best spots, you are less likely to have someone standing up in front of you for most of the... More

Saw Dancing With The Stars here last night. We were in the first level up from the stage, two rows up from ground. Actually perfect seats. On the ground, unless you are in the first few rows, you cannot see the stage as well. Section 215 was perfect and slightly elevated. Easy in and out. The theater is very old... More

Took my wife for a sold out concert of one of her favorite artists. Beautiful historic building. As others have said, the interior reminded me of a high school of college auditorium from the 40's or 50's. Never truly felt crowded, even though it was a sold out show, but it can get cozy. The people behind us spilled their... More

We most recently went to the Tony Bennett concert. Sat on the main floor. To have a view of the stage you have to position yourself to look between the people in the row in front of you. Seating is all one level. Upper seating offers best view.

Lovely classic old building with great acoustics, and not a bad seat in the house for any show -- no matter where you sit. Great full-service bar and snacks for most events, and easy access to parking/mass transit. Nearly every seat in the house makes it feel like an intimate performance...and PLENTY of ladies room stalls. I don't think I've... More

I've seen many many bands play here over the years, like the Who, Moody Blues, Tedeschi-Trucks band, and now Bill Maher. Easy way to travel is VTA, it drops you off right at the entrance.

My husband and I came here for the Modern Talking concert on August 21, 2016. There was an issue with the sound, so we had to wait about one hour before they opened the doors to the venue. There was no AC in the hallways or if there was no one was able to feel it, since it got pretty... More

This downtown jewel is basically in it's original glory, maintained very well and not upgraded to "modern" type of music venues. And that's it's charm. There's not a bad seat in the house (unless of course some performers set up has their equipment in the way). Easy bar access on either side of the venue, large multiple stall bathrooms (I... More

Attended a FinTech conference here in May 2016. Very good facility that can host 1000+ people. Free wifi available at the center. Food provided by the organizers was also very good. Loved the outdoor lawn where people could sit and eat and network. Centrally located in downtown San Jose.
