Weed garden. Very sad to see as a California native the poor condition of the grounds. No access to anything. Very little maintenance even though we pay the highest taxes in the nation.Indifferent employees wondering where they went wrong. They should be energetic stewards of...More

There's a reason why some of the best surfers come to this beach: the waves are always great year-round, the beach is well-maintained and there are fewer tourists roaming around. The lower trestles area is my go-to spot next the wedge in Newport.

Really good surfing area, especially a bit south. Can park up alongside the freeway and walk down the pathway. Or park in the neighborhoods and walk the beach. Surfers build shelters here for chilling out after some tough riding. Bring your own refreshments. Can bike...More

I grew up at this beach...Every weekend throughout every summer, we camped here, fished here, body surfed. It was always clean, great place for families to visit and go camping for a summer holiday.

We came wanting to body board, but the beach is mostly large rocks and was not usable for us. Unfortunately, our $15 admission was wasted on a short visit and then on to Laguna Beach. This beach appears to be suffering in the summer of...More

Long strands of beach that are located beyond the parking areas and sand dunes. Restroom facilities are scattered all along the parking areas

I'm camping with my 4 year old son, a.k.a., carrying a lot of stuff: cooler, blankets, towels, truck, boogie board, umbrella. We'd be tent camping at San Onofre SB Bluff Campgrounds. My concern is the hike to the beach. Is it far? How long does it take? Is it all steep or is there an easy trail to follow? I wouldn't imagine there are showers here. The noise isn't a concern. Just would like to know more about the bluff. Also, do 2 tents fit in a space? I've read it's a crazy tight fit. Thanks! Tina

Yes, two tents can fit. It might be a bit snug. The trails down slope to the beach and are dirt. There's one just south of the campground in the strip parking area that's probably the easiest. Walk down takes a few minutes... More

At the surfing beach, dogs are permitted on leashes in the parking area only and not on the beach. Cars are parked right on the dirt road lining the sand and most tie their dogs to their cars and it's fine. At the southern... More
