A while ago, Charles brought his lion, Joseph, to our TV show 'Touched by an Angel' and I got to take a picture with this beautiful lion....then Charles invited us to Wild Things and a tour....where we had a great time. Charles and Wild Things were rescuing elephants and when we arrived in the morning, we go to help bring... More

Came here with my teen daughter. Guide Rusty was very knowledgeable and nice. Explained different facts about the animals there. Lot of animals were in the TV /movie business and now retired. Staff there seemed to care a lot about the animals. Nice they are building beautiful large enclosures for the animals too. $12 an adult and $10 per child.... More

This is more than just a zoo, it is a home for animals that you get to meet up close and personal. Feeding the elephants was a big hit with the kids, us too! There are a lot of animals here that are now retired and you might recognize from TV or the movies.

Fantastic place to take children and families. Out of the city to the zoo. Close to Salinas and there is always a tour guide going along to answer questions

Always wanted to interact with and feed an Elephant. Not many places that this is available in the U.S. not even in San Diego with our wonderful zoo. Soooo I researched and found this little gem. All of the animals are rescues and they seem to know them have found animal nirvana. The keepers know each critter by name and... More

Love this place! My boyfriend at the time proposed to me in the big cat bungalow. We had a fantastic time bathing and feeding the elephants! When family members visit we always make sure to bring them here!

Fun trip to take. It was a very cool experience and would recommend to others to go. Lots of animals and they are really trying to do what's best for each animal.

My husband and I took our 15 and 13 year old kids to the zoo for the tour. It lasted about an hour including the extra time for feeding the elephants (small fee). Our tour guide was friendly and informative and we were all impressed with the variety of animals on site. They have expansion plans for many of the... More

Monterey Zoo has some good animals and some well-meaning staff. But my wife and I were left with a sour taste in our mouths by the constant talk of animal welfare being at the centre of everything they do when 90% of the enclosures are sickeningly under sized. (Some big cats have, perhaps, twenty by six foot of space.) There... More

It is not often that I (respectfully) respond to such criticism with as much vigor and disappointment as I do with this review but I am becoming increasingly disappointed by those who attack the very efforts being made to right the wrongs they do nothing more than complain about! This individual does just that as they clearly state how we... More

The Safari B & B with breakfast delivery by the elephants is not to be missed! We loved the raised tents, visit time with the animals and sounds of the lion in the night.
