FREE. Walk the grounds and learn about the trees that were given as gifts to California. Check out the war monuments too. Very moving. Must see.

There are many runners and walkers around the park before sunrise. If you are interested in visiting the inside of the building I suggest you check their availability. I was there for a week, so I had no issues.

Completely worthwhile with children to learn about government and many aspects of California and American history. We were there on 420 day and we were delighted that there were no people smoking on the grass where our children ate lunch and that the grounds were...More

California has a beautiful capitol building and it is surrounded by a very large, walkable park. There are magnificent rose gardens and lots of things to look at as well as many benches to stop and spell the roses.

It could be that I was visiting sunny California during the 9-month Washington rain season. However, I suspect that the park is always beautiful. Very clean and easy to navigate. The orange trees were in bloom and were deliciously fragrant.

We spent quite a bit of time in the Park -- there were Orange trees in bloom (a lovely scent similar to Jasmine) and beautiful azaleas, camellias, roses, palm trees and more. A lot of trees have tags with their names. There are many statues...More

Beautiful spot in downtown Sacramento. The park is easily accessible. There were a lot of people taking walks and kids playing in the grass. There are a variety of trees, flowers, and birds throughout the park. Even a couple of cherry blossom trees.

Another option is to take advantage of the "valet parking" at the restaurants across fro the park for $5 to $6 Then tip for $5 bucks and park longer time for less cost....
