Lots of shady trees and photo spots outside the Capitol. Stopped by later in the day, which allowed quick entry into the Capitol through security. Beautiful building inside and out. Tags were used to types of trees on the grounds.

Lucky to see both houses in session. Time your trip around a voting session sand see the state elected workers try to change the course of our state.

The Capitol Park is free to walk around and enjoy all the different types of trees, and most of them are labeled. We enjoyed a pleasant sunny day before our tour of the Capitol building.

FREE. Walk the grounds and learn about the trees that were given as gifts to California. Check out the war monuments too. Very moving. Must see.

There are many runners and walkers around the park before sunrise. If you are interested in visiting the inside of the building I suggest you check their availability. I was there for a week, so I had no issues.

Another option is to take advantage of the "valet parking" at the restaurants across fro the park for $5 to $6 Then tip for $5 bucks and park longer time for less cost....
