While in Sacramento visiting family who made a trip to the zoo.our three-year-old daughter had so much fun as well as us. It was a Friday afternoon so kids are still in school it wasn't overly crowded we were able to take her time spend as much time as we want and looking at the animals and taking pictures. This... It's been a few years since we took our grandkids here, but they have manage to keep the zoo functioning and providing an entertaining environment for everyone. Zoo's, like many of the animals, are an endangered species. They serve an important need and should be supported. Sacramento is fortunate to have the perfect size to support.

Good for a short visit just kinda small. Thay should look at relocating. Could be a great zoo if it were bigger.

This zoo is a little small but it is very nicely done. The exhibits and animals were well cared for. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. It has reasonable admission fees as well. It is a must go for families.

Visited the Sacramento Zoo and truly enjoyed it. A little expensive for some of the rides but much less expensive than Disneyland! Not a very big zoo and probably could get through in about two hours. The animals are kept in well maintained areas and you are able to get up-close to most of them. A nice place to visit... More

It's always hard to see animals in pens, but the Sacramento Zoo tries hard to make enclosures such as the giraffe and lion pens roomy and somewhat nature-like. Kids love the place, especially being able to get fairly close to some of the animals.

I bring my kids here when there is nothing else to do. This is a pretty small zoo, but it's a time killer. Like any other zoo, the prices are a bit extravagant but the kids enjoy seeing what animals there are to see. Probably the best thing about this zoo is in October.. for Halloween they set up several... More

Some cities are known for their wonderful zoos. Sacramento's zoo is nice and seems humane but we didn't see anything special or noteworthy. Unless you are opposed to zoos (and theere might be good reasons for that), I suppose it's better that Sacramento has a zoo than not but just think of it as a placeholder for when you've run... You can feed a giraffe here for a fee of $3. It is super cool to be so close to this magnificent animal. The zoo has viewing windows to watch any operations that are being done on the animals. The zoo is easily walkable, The very large anteater is an animal I have not seen before.

Yea that's right, it's a zoo. It's not a wild animal park like the one in San Diego, and it's probably not the size of the Bronx or Los Angeles Zoo either, but it has PLENTY to see. They let you feed the Giraffe during feeding hours, and they have a great Monkey area to watch them swing and eat...... More
