The locals have done an excellent job of saving the old downtown shop buildings and setting up new stores that are fun to go through. Definitely a bit touristy. But fun.

Old Sacramento was in walking distance from our hotel. Nice restaurants and shops. We did the underground tour as well. Very fun!

I enjoyed myself there. There are places to shop high end artesian jewelry and clothing and novelties galore. This is a nice place to go for seafood as well.

We browsed a taffy store, a new age hippie-type store, and all kinds of fun places. Felt like a real tourist, and everything was pretty reasonable. Found a Malaysian Restaurant for lunch. Pretty darn good!

Not far around 200 yards . Towards the back buy the river walk straight to the end . There's usually a balloon clown for the kids 👍🏽

We are going to stay at La Quinta Inn. I'm wondering if we will be able to walk down to the town.

It's about a 20 min. walk via a Riverside boardwalk. 7 min. drive by car. Walking during the day is pretty safe, but I am not comfortable walking it after dark. Old Sac itself is beautiful and safe at night.
