Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made. The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards. Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

We stopped here on our wine tour of Napa. They were super accommodating, despite us being a little late for our appointment. We were seated overlooking the grounds, which were part vineyard, part farm, part garden - very pretty! Our wine server was very friendly...More

This was probably the best wine tour we did of our recent trip. Our guide Seth was very well informed, spoke passionately about Frog's Leap, its history, philosophy and current ambitions. The estate is beautiful and they are very relaxed about you hanging around after...More

Frog's Leap emphasizes natural, non-irrigated farming to coax the best flavor from the grapes. The extensive gardens attract beneficial insects. Seeing the owner working alongside everyone else is commendable. The wines are reasonably priced and a good value.

We really enjoyed taking the guided tour of this winery...it was so interesting and laid back. As we walked around the grounds, the guide would have us sample a different wine at each stop. The owner of the winery was picking the MOG out of...More
