Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

We were traveling wine country for my wife’s birthday with small children (18m and 4yo). This place was nice. The wine was good, and they had fish, chickens, and open area for the kids to be happy. I would absolutely go back!

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and picture perfect! The tour was smartly designed in that you get to taste wine all throughout the tour. We visited multiple wineries on Saturday and we were disappointed with a certain winery's tour because we spent over an hour on the tour before we got our first sip of wine! Frog's Leap has it... Visiting Napa and Sonoma over Inauguration week (to escape the chaos of DC). Found this place researching online. I highly recommend a visit. The staff and wine were excellent. We did the tour of the grounds, wine making process, and tasted the wines. Excellent tour. Our tour guide was Casey and she was fantastic! Her knowledge, interest in wines, and... More

We've been here a few times with friends and family and we always love the experience. It's in a beautiful setting, great views and the main house is stunning. The wine is excellent and the pours are very generous. Also served with some cheese crackers and dried fruit. Make sure to book in advance as it does get busy here.

We decided to do a wine tasting at Frog's Leap just given how good their wine is. However, we were blown away by the tasting experience. The tasting 'room' is basically a house that has been converted in to a vineyard. They have a long dining table or you can sit by the fire place. They also have seating on... More

Great wine, at a reasonable price with friendly service and all in a beautiful setting. The team at Frogs Leap made us feel very welcome and were attentive and knowledgeable. The view from the winery is gorgeous and the wine is delightful and doesn't break the bank.

My husband and I stopped here for a tasting yesterday and even though we were an hour early they quickly accommodated us with a great table on their beautiful porch! Shannon poured our flight and was so nice and knowledgeable. I like that they give you a little menu and pour all the wines at once and you can taste/compare... More

Frogs Leap Merlot is worth the trip. But it's the gardens that make Frogs Leap look beautiful. Sitting outside means you are walking to a small bar to get your next tasting but it's no big deal. Go for the wine, stay for the gardens.

We enjoyed our tasting here. The setting was beautiful. We sat out on the porch and had a beautiful view. The resident dog is adorable and very friendly. Wine was delicious.

My favorite tasting experience of the trip, hands down. If you want a quiet, romantic, relaxing tasting, then this is the place. We sat at a high top table on the porch in two cushioned chairs. Corrine set up our glasses, gave us a plate of cheese, crackers, almonds and peach jam and told us all about their farming practices.... More
