Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines. Vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko "Mike" Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the Chardonnay he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France. Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977. Committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, we farm our five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

We made a quick stop here to purchase wine carriers to use on the airplane. One member of our group is a club member and to get a discount, every purchase had to go on her card. The wine carriers are awesome and everyone's wines arrived home safely. It is a roller bag with padding, styrofoam for the wines, and... More

Stopped here on wine tour. Had talked with Linda the night before at a wine tasting at Hotel Yountville. She was our guide at Grgich Hills and she was great. She spent plenty of time with us talking about the history of the winery and Mike Grgich. We saw barrels being rolled to move sediment buildup. Wines were terrific. Stop... More

We stopped in at Grgich Hills on our wine tour with Napa Valley Country Wine tours for a tasting. My friend and I enjoy wine but are not knowledgeable winos by any means. I felt like we were an inconvenience to the man providing us our tasting samples. He ran off a blurb about the wine and then seemed to... More

Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to review our winery. We are very disappointed that our staff were not helpful and that you appeared to be an inconvenience. Our guests are never an inconvenience to us and we love to have tasters of all experience levels, including beginners. This is not how we usually conduct business... More

Grgich Hills Estate is a wonderful spot for tasting. They are best known for the French wine competition they entered in the 70's without disclosing that the wine was from California. Their Chardonnay won the event and there is a film loosely based on the occasion called "Bottle Shock". The tasting room is elegant and the employees have a wealth... More

We stopped here because we were killing time until our next stop. It is a very small tasting room and I felt it was being hurried the entire time to finish up our tasting because so many people were there. There are so many other wineries that offer a better experience.

Thank you for your visit and taking time to review us. We are sorry you did not have a good experience at Grgich Hills. The tasting room can become quite lively on the weekends, which sounds like when you stopped by. We offer many private tastings and our tours are kept small, but they all require an appointment to make... More

We loved our tour at Grgich Hills (we did the wine train). The tour guide was very personable and informative, and we learned a lot about wine, the valley and Grgich Hills. The wine itself was some of our favorite, we even had some shipped home. It is small and inviting winery, definitely a place to stop! This was my... More

Capping off a wonderful weekend of visiting the sights of Sonoma and Napa Valley, we planned to end at Grgich Hills because of the good reviews. We were definitely not disappointed. We had time with Gustavo, who was great, and he patiently shared the fascinating history and delicious wines with us. We would love to come back in August when... More

Grgich Hills has been on my bucket list since I found out about Mike Grgich and the Grgich wines. This wine tasting lived up to the expectations i had and more. It is a really nice tasting room where you taste a lot of the great wines they sell. Not only tasting, but you also learn the great history of... More

Grgich Hills easily lived up to their famed name: their top Chardonnays are truly exceptional in this valley, earthy and buttery. The small tasting room is also cozy, not industrial.

Their Chardonnay is creamy and delicious. The tasting room is small, but cozy. Although they're a little pricey, it's worth a stop to taste the best of Napa Chardonnay.
