Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You pass through a campsite to go to the lake and go to the giant slide. It is fun going down. It looks steep but doesn't go fast. We used cardboards that we found on the floor close to the slide. The lookout from the top is just breathtaking. Where the river meets the oceans.

Yambuk Lake is a long shallow lagoon situated to the west of Port Fairy at the back of the foredunes.. You would not know it was there, as the drive in looks as though it is to a farm. There is a reasonably ad hoc camping ground there, sites are pretty tight and there is little privacy, but everyone there seems to love it! The slide is fun.

The slide was great for kids and adults, and a beautiful view from the lookout above it. Also a nice walk around the river to the beach.

We camped at the Yambuk Lake Caravan Park for a couple nights and were rather surprised to find the slide not far away on the way to the beach & bay - there's no fee for entry to the slide.
The kids were 'screaming' down then racing back up, then down again. One dad was "escorting" his youngster (who was much too young) up and down several times - whew!
While we were there, some reconstruction was being finished on the playground just across from the slide - looked also like lots of fun and quite safe!
What a surprise this was - we're too old for the slide, unfortunately, but it was great to watch the kiddies!
We definitely recommend staying at the caravan park!

Headed to Portland and stopped in at the slide, it was ok but the walk to the top tier is worth the extra effort. Great view of lady Percy Julia island

The slide is not as large as literature might imply, but it is quite steep which would make it quite a thrill was it not for the fact that the surface of the slide was so sticky with wax that one gets absolutely all stick and no slip. In fact, were it not for its steepness, it would be more possible to walk down than slide.

Not the best to slide on a hot day. The kids made the most of it. There is a great view from the top

Yambuk beach slide, 30 years ago plus, my wife played on this slide, now with kids of her own the enjoyment remains. No cost no worries, well maintained and located in a lovely part of the sea coast. Amazing views from the lookout abound as well. Well worth the turn off the highway between Warrnambool and Port Fairy.

Stopped through Yambuk on the way to SA and found the giant slide! It really is fun and worth the climb up. Definitely worth a stop.
