Wine Tasting Over the Top!
Jul. 2020
Outstanding tasting experience! We were outside (because of COVID-19) but the breeze, view, hospitality and wines were over the top. Afterwards, we enjoyed a picnic on the cool grassy knoll and picnic tables. A much needed get-away!

Must-visit for any trip to Amador Wine Country
Dec. 2019
Cooper Vineyards is one of the best vineyards in Amador County, and their patriarch, Dick Cooper is famous in the area for his amazing grapes. This is a family-owned and operated place and it is likely you will run into someone from the Cooper family during your tasting. Their Italian and Rhone style wines are absolutely delicious, and their Dicembre port-style dessert wine is one of our favorites. They have great wines for every price range - if you want a real treat, splurge on the Sangiobello or Anniversary. Cooper also gives back to the community with lots of charity events and their wine club events are some of the most popular in the area.

Dick Cooper is an old friend of my brother in law.
Nov. 2019 • Couples
We come up to taste at least once a year, and to buy some of their delicious olive oil. The winery also holds charity events here, one that we attend is the Spaghetti Western. UC Davis Cancer Research is the beneficiary. Spaghetti is the main course, with salad and a silent auction held. Entertaining is of course Dick Cooper and his band. Long tables are set up outside of the lawns surrounding the tasting room. My sister in law once while trying to keep the bidding going, found herself a winner. Paying $500.00 for a weekend in a local B&B.

Top Amador Winery Shines on Italian Varietals
Nov. 2019
Nice setting, knowledgable staff, and top Amador County wines make this a must stop on your Amador County wine tasting adventure. In particular, Cooper stars in its Italian varietals. Barbara is a top varietal for Amador County wine makers, many including Cooper present this is their best. Coopers Barbara is excellent, offering full fruit and a nice long finish. Interestingly, the Amador Barbaras different significantly from those found in the Piedmont area of Italy, their home. The Piedmont Barbaras are high in acidity, lighter bodied, and show best when pared with food. The Amador Barbaras are more full bodied, fruit forward, and stand on their own better. That said, the wine that impressed me the most was the Sangiovese, one of the best California versions I have ever tasted. Bright creamy red fruits are followed by a long evolving finish. Our wine tasting guide credited the power of this wine to the blend of Sangiovese grapes grown on the site, including the Sangiovese Grosso clone that power one of Italy's top wines, Brunello di Montacino. We finished our tasting experience with a picnic lunch at the edge of the lovely estate vineyard. Fantastic experience!

Heard on the Grape Vine... Amador Grape Vine that is...
Sep. 2019
Amador is a relatively small region for growing grapes, but it has boasted over 30% of medals at State competitions. Cooper Winery is one of our new favorites. The weather and climate were a perfect combination when we visited this friendly winery with lots of events. We enjoyed a carefree afternoon tasting outstanding wine and especially enjoyed the Primitivo Estate Bottled 2016 which we purchased as well. The St. Peter's Church Zinfancel 2016 and Barbera 2017 were also take aways. For me but it's not just about the wine... it's about the experience. I definitely recommend Cooper winery for amazing flavors in wine since I seek out gourmet recipes often to enjoy with enhancing wine compliments. Life is what you make it.

Barbera is King
Jun. 2019 • Friends
We have been wine club members for several years and always look forward to two things: our club releases and the wine club events! If you like Barbera, this is THE place! Wonderful and always dependable. Their wine club events, especially the BBQ, are wonderful. Beautiful location, excellent, knowledgeable staff, and always a bit of cheese and salami on hand to nipple on.

If you have never been, get up there now!

A+ Amador Experience
Mar. 2019
This was my 4th visit to Cooper and it is still as good as I remember. Rose in the tasting room is always on point and a ton of fun. We even joined the wine club and worked outside on the lovely patio basking in the sun. Highly recommend and try the Carignane if they happen to be pouring it.

This has been a favorite for years...
Dec. 2018 • Friends
Have attended several Spaghetti Western dinners here, a wonderful yearly event. A charity auction with entertainment. My brother-in-law is a member of the wine club, so every time we go up to his home in Fiddletown, we are served wine from Cooper Vineyards. Actually, Dick Cooper is a friend, and played at his Birthday Party one year. Their Sarah is a fabulous wine one among the many. Priced in the mid range, $20 to $30 well worth it for the bottle. The tasting room is old barn style, roomy enough for the crowds of summer and weekends. Cheese and Salami can be found with a cracker, to really ease you into tasting, which is not too expensive. This is the real deal.
