We had a glass of their Zin at dinner one night and had to come check out the winery. These are the oldest Zin vines in the country. The tasting room is very friendly with a real old time feel. The museum was an added treat as were the select Zin's we tasted. If you love Zin's this is a... More

Just the way I remember it from my last visit 16 years ago, great wines and low key. The museum on the property is not to be missed. No glitz and glamour, no tasting fees, just knowledgeable help and great wine. Don't miss Sobon when you are in the area.

It's the Wandering Yank here. I've been to Sobon maybe half a dozen times over the last 20 years, and I always look forward to it. Why, you ask? -Location. It's all by itself, nothing else in view nearby. It feels very rural. -History. It's the oldest winery in California, going back to 1856. Now that's heritage! -Museum. Yes, there's... More

Our party of seven cousins thoroughly enjoyed a day at this lovely winery. The staff is welcoming and answers any question about the museum and grounds. They offer a wonderful selection of Zinfandel "Rocky Top" which we all agreed was very, very good. There is a nice little gift shop with cookbooks and everything related to wine. The picnic grounds... More

We picked this winery as we had their wine in Rio Cafe, Sacramento. The staff stopped what they were doing to chat with us, about wine and travels. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced, we ended up buying of course!

After sampling the Zinfandel Old Vines at Total Wines, I decided to visit this winery on my next trip to California. I was not disappointed. Sobon had a nice selection of Zinfandel wines. They were all delicious.

Since the 80s, we always visit Sobon when we visit Amador wine country, usually our first stop. They have a lot of great zinfandels to chose from at very good prices. We always purchase at least a case of their wine. A must stop for Zin lovers.

An excellent selection of wines. My particular favorite is their Port but they also have a full range of wines.
