As a child, my dad used to take us into the main cave, along with other families. Gone are the days of trudging through mud with flashlights in hand. Be sure to travel to the stamp mill for a great history lesson.

Took two kids to this park recently and they really enjoyed it...went into the mine and then panned for various minerals that were really not there but they searched for quite a while hoping to score something....

Self guided tour using an app you need to download on your phone. Our phone didn't work very well but just seeing the mine was OK without the audio. Doesn't take a lot of time. Short, easy walk but is a little wet.

This is a beautiful spot to enjoy a picnic, allow children some hiking freedom and gain lots of knowledge about the Gold Rush. We've taken our grandchildren there (age 5-13) and they completely enjoyed the experience. Visiting the Blacksmith Shop is especially fascinating for kids.

Our grandkids enjoyed the mine tour and panning for the “gems.” Don’t miss the blacksmith shop. The blacksmiths were very informative.

It's not a long walk, so your toddler should do fine. My kids didn't have to wear a hard hat since they were so short. It's based on heights.

No discounts, the park is free. The mine is $6 for adults.
