Great sparkling wines

Enjoyed our tasting experience @ Scharffenberger Cellars. The Anderson Valley has not really been discovered yet and remains quaint and peaceful.

I have been tasting at Scharffenberger for many years when I visit Anderson Valley. They have consistently good sparkling wines and a couple of still wines too. Their wines are also a good value. Their tasting room is near the town of Philo and charges $3 per person for the tasting. They have a good selection of wines in a... More

Enjoyed the tasting at this vineyard. We normally don't drink sparking wine but loved every wine we tasted. Try it, you might like it!

The further you drive away from Napa and Sonoma, the more attractive the pricing becomes. This was certainly true for Scharffenberger – a sparkling wine producer near Boonville. Tastings were $3 – but waived if you bought anything – and my wife really enjoyed several of their sparkling wines and at very reasonable prices. We bought a chilled bottle and... More

Scharffenberger is one of two sparkling wine producers in the Valley with Rhoderer being the other one. The tasting experience at Scharffenberger is delightful and informative. I think their Sparkling offerings are exceptional and I always come home from the Anderson Valley with a bottle or two of Scharffenberger sparkling wine. The Cremant is probably my favorite.

I made two stops in Anderson Valley’s wine country on Day 6 of my road trip. My prime objective, however, was hiking in Hendy Woods State Park and getting to Mendocino before dinner. But .. Scharffenberger’s sparkling wines got a heady recommendation from a local resident, so I popped in to purchase two bottles. The individual pouring wine and greeting... More

Enjoyed our tasting at Scharffenberger Cellars. The wines/sparkling wines we tasted were super and the staff helpful. No pressure to join their wine club--but good deal all the same. Can't wait for the first shipment!

The sparkling wines are very good and reasonably priced. The $3 tasting fee gets you an array of 5 or 6 of their wines in a pleasant tasting room located in an older house. A very pleasant experience.

Easy to find and attractive. We had pre-ordered and prepaid the $25 picnic basket. We were greeted by an older lady who had no idea we had placed an order. She was very confused. Handed us the only picnic basket since apparently it was for us. We sat outside and ate off a steel table. Please spend a dollar at... More

No matter what the language, Scharffenberger sparkling wines are world class. Located in the tiny town of Philo (349 at last census), it’s a wine lover’s absolute fantasy. Philo is in Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, California. Outstanding sparkling and still wines, a bucolic setting, expert welcoming staff, fine art and an atmosphere that ties it all together into a complete... More
