We happened upon this little gem along our route. I definitely recommend a stop because this was an unexpected little gem. Coastal views are spectacular, great photo opportunities and there is also a hostel associated with the property if you decide to stay. This was...More

Nice views here, and easy to park. Not too far off Big Sur, so it can be a short stop. It's free too.

As we were driving up the Hwy 1 that morning we saw the lighthouse and stopped in to see if it was open. The fog house has a bunch of neat museum quality info and the Big Lense to check out. Unfortunately the lighthouse itself...More

Although the Park was closed on the day we were driving around, it was still pretty cool to see Pigeon Point Light. From what I understand, this is still a working Coast Guard Station. The views of the lighthouse and the beach are quite beautiful,...More

We visited and it was fine. There is a fence around the lighthouse preventing access which left us bummed. We didn't stay long :/

We always like to stop at lighthouses on our road trips and this one was no exception. It is such a shame the disarray and condition of the lighthouse, being fenced up and not able to visit. We are hoping that $$ can come in...More

The lighthouse museum is quite interesting and there is a good walk down to the beach, if you are good at scaling fairly steep sand cliffs. Nice views of the ocean with seals on rocks, etc. The ranger (?) at the museum was very informative...More

Beautiful place on the Californian coast. An old lighthouse on the cliff overlooking the ocean with some lodges where you can sleep and relax with the ocean wind and sea noise. The ocean view is great!

Actually, I would recommend that you have a flashlight. There are lights around, but not a sufficient amount to really light up the area.

Unfortunately, there is no public transportation to Pigeon Point from anywhere. If you are in one of the cities on the peninsula or in South Bay, the best way to get there is probably to HWY 92 to Halfmoon Bay, and then... More
