Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stop number 6 gave us the opportunity to get out of the car and scramble over a bunch of rocks. This stop was noted as a small Chinese fishing village back in the 1800s. No remnants remain just blackened rocks likely due to the cooking fires.
As we got closer to the edge of the rocks by the ocean we peered into some of the tide pools hoping to see some sea life. However they were surprisingly barren for some reason. We did find a couple of rocks comfortable enough to sit down and watch the waves come rolling in for a little while. Being low tide and calm, the action was relatively benign that morning.
As we made our way back to the car, we noticed a ton of mussel shells littering the beach so something found this place to be a good source of food and the feasting has been ongoing for quite awhile.
Worth a stop for its accessible rocky setting.

China Rock is the 6th point on 17-Mile Drive. A short stop here along the sea shore, one can have views of the ocean. The place was known for a small Chinese fishing village in the late 1800s. This place is very near to both Point Joe and Bird Rock. Hardly few minutes view of the sea from the car. We did not stop here. No pictures taken here by me.

This place is where Chinese immigrant fishermen used to make their homes, making it interesting. Today it is a viewpoint offering some nice scenic views. Certainly worth a visit.

All the stops are very beautiful. The drive should take about 2.5 hours, longer if you stop off for lunch. I suggest the Gallery Cafe for lunch.
China Rock is so named because Chinese fishermen camped and fish just off this rocky point. This is one of many stops where you can get out a roam the area right down to the water's edge.

This was the place where Chinese fisherman lived in the old days. The rock was the symbol for that tiny village.

Believe it or not, China Rock was once home to a small settlement of Chinese fishermen. Today it one of the many delightful stops along Seventeen Mile Drive, Stop #6. It's a good spot to stretch your legs and breath in some clean ocean air.

We were driving highway 17 and liked seeing China Rock area again. This is a scenic view of the Pacific Ocean It used to also be the site of a Chinese Village. Thus the name.

We have been to 17 mile drive several times. This is a historic site where there was once a Chinese village in the 1800s. Although there are no remains, its interesting to note. Now, there is just the spectacular Pacific Ocean to see and the rocks called China Rock. We enjoyed our time there on a stellar warm November day.

Didn’t get it !! Still don’t get it !! It’s a lump of worn boulders. I wouldn’t recommend stopping. Deleted the picture I took as it’s such a rubbish thing to look at.
