About
Since 1919, the exquisite beauty and unique challenges of Pebble Beach Golf Links have electrified golfers and spectators alike. Designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, the course hugs California’s rugged coastline, providing wide-open vistas, cliff-side fairways and sloping greens. Over the years, Pebble Beach Golf Links has been the site of golf’s most prestigious tournaments such as the annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and five U.S. Open Championships, including the 2010 U.S. Open. We are excited and honored to welcome back the U.S. Open to Pebble Beach for the sixth time in 2019!

Please call in advance to find out conditions of the course. The views were great but I can honestly say our threesome couldn't believe how bad the greens were (Actual undoctored green #11 attached). We were celebrating our 50th birthdays and planned for months to play the Pebble Beach course. We set aside and took vacation days, bought flights from Georgia, and convinced our spouses that it was a once in a lifetime experience (lots of honey do items checked off!) We had a tee time at 3:40, May 21st and it didn’t help we were the last group out which made the conditions worse. Even though we were warned that we might not finish the course, we happily paid the $620 green and cart fee hoping that for that price it would be worth every cent. Pebble Beach management doesn't give you notification about greens being aerated, which almost all courses do. We would not have substituted our original Spyglass tee time that would have allowed us to finish. This is unacceptable especially for the exorbitant price.

World Class Golf Course with Awesome Pacific Ocean Views - Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, CA
Feb 2020
We went to see the Pebble Beach Golf Links. This is a stellar place to play with a very good club house. For those who do not play, one can get very good views of the golf course from Stillwater, a restaurant at Pebble Beach Lodge. We had lunch there when in the area. Its amazing thing to do.
We where there a week after the ATT Major Golf Tournament, so grand stands, etc. were still up. It was interesting to watch as the work crews took them down from the golf course area.
The views of the Pacific Ocean from the golf course area are iconic.

Beautiful course. Housing along edge reminds you that you are poor compared to those owners. 3rd time playing here, but...now cartpaths only! You either use a pullcart (i did) or hope you hit your drives on cartpath side of fairway. If not, you would be grabbing 2 or 3 clubs and hoping you hit a decent 2nd shot otherwise you and your cart quickly become distant relatives. Now, if you walk and are 74 like me, humping the cart up right side of # 6 makes you pray you dont pass out and roll off edge of cliff to over a 100 foot drop.
I wont be back as cart paths only is permanent now.

Since I am not much of a golfer it was still very easy to visit the golf course and take a look around.
In front one can drive right up and unload. Inside the gate off to the right was the clubhouse checkin and lines of golf carts. We saw the first hole and those golfers teeing off and the 18th hole for those wrapping up their round. Not sure if I could pony up the green fees but for those who have that desire it will be a beautiful golf experience.
The most interesting part of the golf course was the Pebble Beach Wall of Champions which was installed in 2019. Every major championship winner was immortalized with a plaque with their image along with a short summary of their key moments. Lots of cool details to read. On each side were plaques listing all the winners of the Pro Am and California State Amateur tournaments also held at Pebble Beach.
A statue of Samuel Morse was located right in front of the wall and recognized his idea to build a golf course along this scenic coastline.
Definitely worth a visit to admire this handsomely designed wall.

Pebble beach and Spanish bay are great courses. Spyglass, not so much.
The managers of all three golf courses should all be sent to Pinehurst for a lesson on service . Spyglass's was the worst - you had to ask for everything and employees seemed put out. Except for after 18 when they wanted your tip. At pebble lodge, housekeeping was amazing. Dean was also wonderful when he located our lost bags and showed up at our room to get us to the range in time. At some point if pebble doesn’t step up its service golfers will choose other locations. You can only rest on your history for so long.

This place is amazing even if you're not a golfer! From Monterey we took the 17 mile drive tour. The course is simply spectacular to look at and the club house was also remarkable. It’s worth stopping at the visitor center and seeing the trophies, the plaques of the winners, read the displays, and photograph the Wanamaker Cup. We picked up some items as gifts for golfer friends and they loved getting them.

We did not sign up early for a tee time. We were staying at the Inn at Spanish Bay. We called the day before and got a 2:10 tee time. They did warn us that we were not guaranteed to finish. We played as a twosome. They just jam people on in the afternoon. If we would have finished it would have been a 6 hour round. We hung it up after 14 holes. The charge was $565 per. At that rate I think they should limit the number of tee times so you could finish in 4-4.5 hours. Most holes had 3 groups on them all the way through 14.

There's a well known theme park that some people say is the happiest place on Earth. As a golfer, I can say that the Pebble Beach golf links area takes that title. My son, a friend and I played Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach. They share a common, wonderful practice area. I was giddy the first day on the practice putting green at Spyglass. I just knew that all the men putting and milling around were so happy to be there. Spyglass itself has a nice pro shop but is nothing the size of the Pebble Beach pro shop and stores. Spyglass was a wonderful golf course. My particular tip for playing Spyglass is to be aware of the rough which is thick and coarse. It wasn't too tall but it was extremely 'grabby'. Your usual chip shot effort will leave you well short of your intended distance. At the end of your round, enjoy a unique shoe cleaning. Of course Pebble Beach is iconic. I've visited Pebble Beach before. But this time, practicing on their putting green with the anticipation of playing the course was fantastic. Playing along the ocean was in my mind and affected my shots. When you get a tee time at Pebble Beach, they send you a link that includes tips on how to play the course. One tip that they give you is this - Know that the greens slope towards the ocean. Putting at Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach was the most difficult putting that I've ever encountered. So many times, you were sure that the green sloped away from the ocean but found that they did slope towards the ocean. But the degree to which this happened varied so I was never sure on how much break to play. Pebble Beach suggests that you get a caddie who knows the slope of the greens. Yes, Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill are expensive. But if you are an avid golfer, it's a dream of a lifetime.

It is of course a golf course that’s on most golfers wish-list. And it is spectacular without doubt. It is also a very interesting course with many varied types of holes. The course runs down the coast and then comes back parallel to the outward 9 and so every hole is a feast for the eyes. The greens are simply perfect…..but the fairways are less so and the rough is being treated and fertilised so you really need to place your ball to avoid all the damage. It is also a very noisy course. The mowers are everywhere and don’t stop. Tractors are constantly driving by and diggers work here and there. Then there’s the constant whine of different types of machine tools from all the houses being renovated etc. So you hardly ever hear the sea or the birds. But it’s a great course and very expensive.

Pebble Beach is indeed iconic including several of the holes like #7, #8 and #18. I enjoyed it very much and it certainly checked off a box on the old bucket list. All that said, was it my favorite golf course to play ever...not it wasn't. It was only the next day when I played Spyglass that I found a course that I enjoyed more. Still a worthwhile experience and the service and staff are exceptional.

Hi. My husband is golfing Pebble Beach on June 12 and I plan to walk along with him. Are there benches or somewhere to sit and rest on the course? Thank you, in advance, for your help.

I played Bandon Dunes last year, and bag services had your clubs waiting for you at each course. I’m playing the Pebble courses in 2 weeks. Does the resort have the same services? Also, the PB driving range looks pretty far from the first tee. Is there a shuttle or do you need to walk? Thank you.
Written 19 June 2020
With Covid who how the resort will handle bags...usually they move them around for you. And yes there is a shuttle between the course and the range every few minutes. Have fun!

Make sure they don’t slip a guest into your group at the last minute. They put a guy who had never played golf with us. He kept hitting our ball even with his caddie! Why would you want to play pebble when you have never played golf before? Very frustrating

I have not experienced this, but thanks for the info.

Booked the only tee time available at Pebble Beach Golf during our trip to Monterey Peninsula. It was a 3:45 and 10 days after aeration. A). Pretty sure I won’t get through all 18. Any guesses on how many holes I’ll get through with average pace of play? B). Anyone experiences the course around aeration?
Thanks!

Played yesterday and the greens were fine. And extremely small. You should easily finish the round approx five hours
They will push the double shot cocktail $36.00 each. Stick with the $10.00 beers.
Fore caddy not needed.

My husband and I are volunteers for this years US Open. I booked a room on airbnb last year; it's in The Aromas, CA area. If anyone is familiar with that area and what travel time I should allow that would be helpful. I'm thinking may an hour and a half to get from house to volunteer shuttle in Monterrey.

Sorry, no idea.
Enjoy the tournament!

I read on the US Open website that bags bigger than 6”x 6” x 6” are prohibited. Is this enforced? That size is rather small for a handbag and the handbag I’m using for my trip is larger. Would they not permit me inside?
Written 16 May 2019
Sadly yes it is enforced. The bag has to be clear as well. Not surprisingly you can buy them at the gate for 5 bucks a piece... You can leave the bag in a tent but it was pretty insecure. So much so we forgot our passports and cash was in the back pack and had to go back and retrieve them. They are all piled up in a gazebo and whoever returns to pick theirs up has the chance to snoop about...

We want to attend US Open in 2019, and we are in need of suggestions for planning this 2-3 day trip. This will be our first time visiting Pebble Beach as well as our first time being a spectator here. Also we will be working with a budget.

Let me try this again when I was in the area I want to staying in Santa Cruz which is approximately 15 miles north it's a nice area but during this time next year during the golf tournament pricing is probably going to be pretty high so I'm not sure what to say but it's a beautiful golf course I did walk a few holes and it's beautiful near the Blue Water of the Pacific

Very expensive area for lodging & food. If you can find a travel package that may be the best bet. Compare that versus doing your own thing.
