Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked a reservation for a Saturday afternoon, admittedly a busy time. However, the staff, although friendly, were uninterested in us (me and my date) and were sparse with the answers to any of my questions. I'm a beginner in the wine world and I've really valued the many other paso tastings I've had where my questions were answered thoroughly. What most put me off was when I requested a technical sheet of some of the wines I had tasted, they refused saying that was not publicly available information. In my experience, this is not standard as I've been generously provided with a tech sheet to at least a dozen other wineries in the area.

Great guided tasting, wonderful wines, charcuterie plate & ad hoc presentation by the winemaker. Our east coast tour group rated this winery experience highly!

Great tasting down in the cellar. The owner was a fantastic hostess and really had a passion for wine. Really, Check this winery out if you’re in Paso Robles, you won’t be sorry.

Great service and great wine. I was impressed enough to join the wine club. Sister vineyard to Paris Valley Winery. (Another great one)

This quaint little rustic retreat was just what the doctor ordered. Deborah took great care of us and we enjoyed their recently renovated garden which was perfect to take an afternoon reprieve. The panini was pretty clutch too

We decided to go wine tasting in the Edna Valley area outside San Luis Obispo. One of our stops was Sextant Winery. It was also our favorite! This is the only winery in the area that offers a real lunch option, and charcuterie boards that are homemade (not pre-packaged). There are umbrella tables outside along various patios. We did a wine tasting and really enjoyed all of the wines. It was hard to pick out the wines to buy because we liked so many of them. Amy was the person helping us with the tasting. She was knowledgeable and very charming. Our group of 4 unanimously picked Sextant Winery as the best winery we visited in San Luis Obispo.

We stumbled across Sextant Wines in Edna Valley looking for a venue for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The area is charming and our tasting experience was unforgettable . The Old Edna townsite (founded in 1840’s) is now part of the Sextant Winery. The main tasting room is where the General Store was located and is surrounded by lovely patios. It’s the perfect place for a picnic or purchase food from the deli at Sextant. Check out the other vintage buildings on the property.

After several tastings, we joined their wine club plus purchased several cases of the 2017 Grenache Blanc. It was a big HIT at my son’s wedding!
Oh by the way, there are two Sextant Winery locations: Paso Robles and Edna Valley. Cheers!

A great wine tasting experience. The staff is friendly and experts at their craft. The wines are fabulous - your biggest challenge will be which do I bring home.

We last tried visit the Paso Robles tasting room in February of 2018. The gate to the driveway was locked. No sign, and no one answered the phone. I left a message and no one returned my call. We ended up visiting Grey Wolf and had a wonderful tasting. The staff there had no idea why Sextant was closed. We have visited in previous years at the same time and they were open. Grey Wolf opens an hour later than Sextant, so the time wasn't the issue.

We enjoyed their wheelhouse zin in the past and I was once again trying to purchase a bottle of the Sextant Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay for my aunt who loves it. I will try again when we visit in a couple of weeks. Here's hoping that they will be open!

Walked in to many locals and members lounge. Even though it was raining there was a constant flow of people in and out. $25 for a regular tasting and $35 for a reserve. Fee waived when buying 3 bottles. The husband loved the reds and we took home a bottle of Rose for myself. Very pleasant visit. Down the way they even had another winery/distillery/restaurant which would be a nice break in tastings.
