From the historic part of Old Pasadena to the far outskirts of the city, Colorado Boulevard really is the artery of Pasadena. Beautiful turn of the century facades crown the high end shopping area of Old Pasadena. Designer boutiques high end chain stores and other...More
I live in Pasadena since 2014 but had never experienced the Rose Parade live.
Absolutely impressive! Hundreds of thousands of people come from all over the country to enjoy the magnificent chariots displaying beautiful and creative arrangements of roses, highlighting the Icons of Southern California....More
From the Little Old Lady from Pasadena to the everyday shopper, Colorado Blvd. is the place to be. Especially in "Old Pasadena" or "Old Town" as many of us long time residents call it. Lots of nice shopping and restaurants. Parking is available on the...More
Colorado Boulevard (depending on where you are) can be great. The area closest to the Old Pasadena Bridge is beautiful. Higher end (and a few not so high end) shops, lots of food to choose from, dessert places, home furnishings and decorations, shoes, perfumes, etc....More
This is the main drag in town and heading west leads into the main drag of Old town Pasadena. Plenty of places to eat and shop with many Name-brand and independent retailers and cuisines from all over the world. The place to hang out in...More

One of the things I like about Pasadena is that (unusually for much of the US) you can get about on foot.

For the first part of the parade route along Colorado Boulevard from Orange Grove Blvd. to east of Lake Avenue, I don't think there are any hotels along the prime areas of the parade route, let alone with balconies. The area is commercial with business and office buildings. I think the hotels are not on Colorado Blvd. Not too familiar with east of Lake Avenue.

The Hilton, an older hotel, is at the center of the city and convenient to the theater, Asian Museum and mall. The newer hotels at west Colorado are near the freeways, the Norton Simon Museum and Old Pasadena with trendy shops, lots of restaurants and evening activity. I think that all of the large hotels are high quality for comfort and service, but the newer ones are more elegant.
