Most of the drag performers that I have seen here are good although, the drawback is that drag shows attract throngs of annoying bachelorette parties and "girls night out" parties. That is the main reason I stay away. The place still looks basically the same as it ever did w/ the kitschy Tiki decor. It's kind of reminds me of an old Tiki/Polynesian village set from DisneyWorld. Music is usually decent although nothing super innovative or different. Pretty run of the mill. I wish more of the gay crowd still went. It has lost its luster in that department.

Toucans is so much fun! A Palm Springs trip just doesn’t feel complete to me without a Sunday night show at Toucans. The atmosphere is excellent, the host is hilarious, and the performers are so talented! There’s lots of lighthearted joking and you can’t help but get swept up in the amazing energy. Highly recommended for a fun night out.

It was fun, but mostly because it was such a bizarre experience. If you know what you're going for, then it's not so bad. Basically, you're in a dive bar, there to drink while people in okay drag (really not all that impressive, sometimes even ratty wigs) waltz through the audience to collect dollar bills while they lip sync. That's all they're doing. Every single song, burst through the door, then immediately start collecting dollar bills around the room. With an occasional impressive cart wheel. All the power to them, honestly. I hope they are raking in the $ while they laugh at people's willingness to throw money at them before they've even performed. Don't bother with VIP seats, the place is tiny and the performers walk all around. Save your cash for the tips.

Horrible, had VIP Tickets for Varla Jean were seated by a “hostess” who was so incredibly lame and seated our VIP tickets in a corner behind two tiki things and couldn’t see the stage. We asked to be moved, really politely (we are very meek people and don’t ever make waves).
We were totally disregarded and told that the “hostess” would take care of it, she did not. Just to be clear this is the night of Thursday, November 11th. Another hostess, below the level of this primary hostess made an executive decision and just said, “ just moved to the next table“, We did so and everything was great, so huge thanks and kudos to the second tier hostess, Who made an executive decision and completely changed the trajectory of our experience. We think her with the bottom of our hearts. However, the initial hostess who is/was the primary hostess was horrible. We will not be back in any event, but certainly appreciate the efforts made by the wonderful 2nd hostess.
Upon leaving I did address the primary hostess and told her she should be ashamed of herself and she was completely had no understanding.
We will not be back.

Presumably, due to the pandemic, large bridal parties are encouraged to visit in order to keep Toucans in business. Thus, if you're straight or have a large bridal party, then this is the drag show for you. Otherwise, this club, far away from the Palm Springs' strip, is not a place you want to visit if you're looking for the quintessential gay experience.

We have stayed in Palm Springs several times and had some good nights at Toucans but not any more!
We took a $10 taxi to Toucans last night ( the first time we have been this year ) and were stopped at the door by a youth in a baseball cap and asked for ID. This has never happened before and bearing in mind that I am a 49 year old male with a 52 year old partner I think that we look over 21 !
I explained that we are English and don`t carry ID cards and we certainly don`t walk around with our passports but he insisted that we could not enter without ID. Surely ID is only to check your age and not a compulsory requirement. Anyhow we will not be going to Toucans again and certainly will not be recommending others to go there, the Bootlegger has much better customer service!!

Went to this place during a girls weekend in PS. We didn't experience the tiki aspect of the place as we were going for the famed Sunday night drag show. There is an 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. showing. The website is very confusing -- we couldn't figure out how to make reservations but we got there just as the 8 p.m. show was ended and got a great spot at the bar when patrons were leaving. The venue appears to be quite large but the performance area is pretty small. There a dance floor to the right of the stage and the DJ was spinning between the early and late show. The vibe is great -- everyone ready to have a good time.
I'm not familiar with the performers but the MC was funny and very talented (she sang instead of lip-syncing and sis could blow). There were four or five ladies who rotated through two or three songs each. The gal who did "I Have Nothing" was channeling some serious Whitney vibes! Great, high energy show. Would definitely come back.

Hotels in Palm Springs are expensive!!! Fortunately Skylark is one of the more slightly more affordable ones, most recently $450 total for 2 nights. I believe its finishing up a major remodeling. Despite being a 70 year old building, it looks mostly new with that cool vintage mid century modern style. I might stay here again someday
PROS:
-Vintage Mid Century Modern that just feels so freaking cool.
-Large, clean, spacious room with MCM furniture and decor.
-Comfy supportive king sized bed. -Fridge, coffee/tea maker, robes, microwave, LCD TV
-Pool & Hot Tub open 24/7...though that could be bad thing.
-Free Breakfast! I had no idea! Had waffles, egg fritata, crispy bacon, cereal, fruits, coffee...this will save you at least $20/day from eating out. Orange juice too...bring your own Champagne?
-One of the cheaper hotels in pricy Palm Springs.
-Free Parking
-Friendly staf
CONS:
-It's an older outdoor hotel, so more noise comes through the door and ceiling if you're on the bottom floor. Earplugs are offered :)
-Bathroom shower is vintage, in a bad way: a small standup stall, that still needs some remodeling, including patching a hole.
-Not much in walking distance. Especially on a hot sunny day! But it should only cost $7-10 to Uber/Lyft to downtown.

A great place for Drag on Sundays! Very friendly staff and a terrific host! The bartenders were attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was tacky in all the best ways!

Easy parking, indoor & outdoor seating, friendly staff, lively ambiance and nicely decorated, drag show on Thursday night was exciting & fun. Mixed age crowd, fast, delicious drinks and great music!!
