    Fun time, knowledgeable staff
Spent a nice 1.5 hours at the garden, wide variety of desert plants we’ve never seen. The staff’s knowledge of the plants was amazing, and we left with a bunch of starter-sized cacti. Worth a visit!

    Nice small desert garden
We spent a very pleasant 45 minutes or so among the various cacti and other desert plants. Just a few plants were in bloom in mid-March, but many were just about to bloom. We also caught the beginning of a guided tour where they talked about palm trees which was interesting. Worth adding to your itinerary if you enjoy botanical gardens.

    Was here winter 2023
We were staying at the hotel, pretty-well adjacent to this garden, so it was a very easy walk to get there. I was surprised at how tall, wide, and old some of the cactus were, along the paths, and they were grouped into different regional deserts . Since I love cactus, and it doesn't grow where I come from, I spent alot of time looking at the different ones. People that arrived well-after me, passed me, and were probably out well before me! I went into the greenhouse, which had alot of potted cactus, and some were hanging pots, with the cactus growing upside down! I saw the box in a separate area, where they had made a den for the turtles to hibernate for winter. On the other side, there was a large tortoise, that had come out of hibernation. Just around the exit, there are tables with various cactus, pots and things for sale for a garden, but I didn't buy anything. There is a large, dirt parking lot beside the gardens. Glad I visited here!

Cute place for what it is
First, realize that this is not a large botanical garden. It's a small private garden that has a wonderful assortment of dessert plants. The entrance fee was reasonable. Expect to spend about a half hour walking through the place. We saw several hummingbirds enjoying the garden, too!

    ENJOYABLE VISIT
I had a nice visit to the gardens when it opened. There weren't very many people there, which I felt was ideal. It allowed for a slow pace to view and enjoy seeing all the various species of cacti. I went at a very leisurely pace, and around the pathways twice. I feel, unless you are an extremely avid gardener, that 1 hour is long enough for a visit. They do sell some cacti, plants and pots as well.

Small gardens, but a nice walk.
Huge is an overstatement, you can't spend more than an hour here and that's really taking your time. Parking is a nightmare on the road but at $7 you can't really complain. The gardens are really well maintained, lovely layout and unique plants throughout. There are also some turtles you can spend time seeing as well. It's a good way to spend an hour if you are in the area already.

    A Must See!
This is a tiny parcel packed with the most amazing, exotic desert plants we've ever seen!!!! Costs so little to see so much and if you are lucky to talk to THE Moortens you have double the joy! Very nice people, great local family history. Totally worth visiting. It's a short tour. We brought home some plants for a marginal fee.

    Great Visit and Gardens
Picked a fantastic Saturday to visit the gardens. The temperature was 75 and sunny. Many different cacti and environments. Hummingbirds abound. Shaded and cool from the sun. Clark Moorten, the owner was there and talked to him about the gardens and it's history. Really neat gentleman with a ton on local knowledge. Unfortunately, there are no docent tours on Saturdays. Would have enriched the visit by hearing stories and additional information. Admission was reasonable and worth the stop. We were visiting from out of town and flying home, so could not purchase any cacti - but there were many for sale starting at $2.00 for small ones with many price points for different sizes. Cool and neat spot!!!

A great place to visit in Plam Springs
Small botanical garden but well worth the entry fee - it’s packed with cacti and desert trees. The docent was also super helpful with extra info on the plants. Some really lovely cacti

    Come into the desert!!!
This is a desert lover's paradise!!! You would have to travel many miles in a desert in order to see all these wonderful varieties of cactus plants. We spent at least 40 minutes looking at everything. The plants are nicely marked which makes it easy to know just what type of cactus plant you are observing. I loved the giant Sonoran cactus from the northern Mexican desert-amazing!! The tiny ones were amazing to see as well. There a special green house too. Inside you can see some rare specimens. The gift shop was well stocked with really unique souvenirs at reasonable prices. I liked the little turtles made of stone. The entry fee was only $7.00 per person-a great price worth every penny. Don't miss this enchanting desert world. You won't be disappointed!!

This is a cactus shop masquerading as a garden. Small area with cacti growing, no real information provided about any of the plants save for a few signs. The cactorium is bizarre. Not the kind of thing I would expect to pay for. Not worth time on vacation. Boring for kids.

I am totally embarrassed to admit that in all my visits to Palm Springs, Moorten Botanical Gardens remained on my must-see list for entirely way too long. I finally made it by yesterday for a visit and Wow!! What a place! I absolutely loved my time here!
A winding dirt path leads you through countless desert cacti, trees, and succulents. There’s a little greenhouse that is full of amazing cacti to admire. Plenty of shady spots with benches to rest and enjoy the scenery as well. There are many wonderful things available for purchase before you head home. Locally made pottery, cacti, succulents, yard ornaments, and more. I treated myself to a handmade pot and 3 baby succulents. Can’t get enough of those little cuties!
I was lucky enough to meet the son and granddaughter of the original owner. I love that this place has been family owned and operated since it’s beginnings in 1938! What a total local gem! Absolutely worth adding to the top of your to-do list when visiting the desert. Oh and guess what? This is a dog-for edgy activity as well! Thanks for the beautiful outing at your amazing gardens! I’ll be back soon!

The only plants at these botanical gardens are cacti. A self-guided walking tour traverses a path through the gardens that include cacti from all over the world and a greenhouse where cacti are being grown. There will almost certainly be a cactus variety you’ve never seen before. The cactus focus and inexpensive $5 entrance fee makes these Gardens worth a visit, but they are pretty small and limited. It would be hard to spend more than 1/2 hour here and the property itself is old and could use a refresh.

This is a private family-owned garden, established in 1938, and specializing in desert plants from around the world. We did a short walking tour through, to see their large collection of 3000 varieties of cacti. Very interesting, and great for pictures. Parking is just wherever you can find it, on the side of the highway. There are some plants for sale as well.

Privately run Botanical Garden by the Moorten Family. Different sections of the garden depict regions of cactus, succulent plants. An easy walk through the garden. In addition there is a Cactarium (green house).

I am not a big fan of cactus plants but I am so glad we visited this botanical garden. What a unique and beautiful collection of cacti plants! It is a small garden that took us about 30 minutes to go through the whole thing. And that was us taking our time. We met the owner in the little greenhouse with the most unique cactus plants. He was very friendly and talked to us briefly about the history of the place.

The garden is well maintained. It was $5 per adult. For a relaxing stroll around this garden, it was worth it. We came in the summer with average temperatures of over 100 degrees so we came as soon as it opened at 9am so it wasn’t crazy hot yet. There is a dirt parking lot across the street from the entrance. We enjoyed our visit.

I have never seen so many varieties of cacti. Make sure to take a guided tour. They will show you on pictures how cacti blossom and provide so many details about these flowers. They have even cactus from Nigeria there. Around the garden you can encounter seeing humming birds. If you wear something pink they will sit on your shoulder and try to sip a Sirup from you lol

The family started collecting old growth specimens in the 1930s so you will see some rare and interesting large plants. It's a great place to spend and hour or two. We enjoyed the hummingbird building it's nest in the greenhouse.
