It's more than a zoo. It's more than a garden. It's more than hiking trails. There is the most fabulous outdoor train set for the kids and trams for those who don't want to walk that much. We started coming here in 1990, and became members. Hint: come early in the day, when they first open, and the desert animals... More

A good perspective of desert wildlife. The birds are amazing. Behind the scenes educational opportunities.

We enjoyed our trip to the Living Desert Zoo immensely. The zoo is nicely laid out with easy walking paths. There's also optional transportation around the zoo for those visitors who have mobility issues which was appreciated greatly by my husband. We especially enjoyed watching the chetahs that were enticed to run by being feed on opposite sides of their... More

We went to the Living Desert mainly because our six year old grandson wanted to see the train exhibit and it is worth seeing. It is complex, huge, well done and great fun. Going during the Christmas holidays, it was enhanced by some holiday extras. We also had a lovely chat with the retired gentleman running it that day. Well... More

We visited in the late afternoon to catch the fantastic light show & soon realized we need to come back early. We had so much fun, just didn't see everything. Definitely going back!!

Having to pay $25 to get in, understandable. Having to pay to do EVERYTHING once inside - unacceptable. You have to pay to see the butterflies, pay to ride a camel, pay to feed a giraffe a carrot, pay to ride the trolley... it gets very expensive. Seeing some of the animals was fun, but not worth the money. Buyers... More

What a wonderful experience for all, from the highly engaged staff through to the wide range of animals (those that crawled, slithered, ran...) We had the 4 and 7 year old in tow, we loved the fact that they could touch the animals, think Black King Snake, and Turtles. Staff were very knowledgeable, and ready to talk and engage with... My spouse, sister and I decided to go on Christmas Eve to see the light display and also because we knew they would have camel rides. We did the camel ride first and it was a blast, though I wish it had been a little longer. The light display was amazing. My favorite thing was the absolutely mind-blowing miniature trains... More

Here is something to do when visiting this area. You can visit this place probably several times and see something different. Many exotic animals, some I have never seen before. Lots of walking but well kept paths. Lots to read, lots to see. A couple of interesting events is the cheetah run, where they have trained cheetahs to feed when... More
