We did a behind the scenes tour with a cheetah, and then had a tour of the grounds. What a beautiful place to spend a few hours. They have done a fabulous job landscaping the grounds, and reminding you where you are, and what the desert climate is like. The animals are beautiful, and they look great. We enjoyed the... More

This is a great place to learn about the plants and wildlife of the desert. I recommend going earlier in the day to avoid the hot temperatures.

We like this natural looking park. Petting area, giant train display, camel rides, and carousel good for little kids. Can get hot midday. New cheetah run cool. Feeding giraffes and the animal hospital talks also interesting. Limited food choices in back of the park...front entrance has decent food choices for zoo this size.

The gardens are amazing with great examples of deserts from all over. It was a thrill to watch the cheetahs run. The animal enclosures are a bit dated, but the animals all looked healthy.

I need to state up front that I am also a volunteer at The Living Desert which in itself is a fantastic experience. The Living Desert is so much more than a "zoo" or 'gardens". Anyone can Google The Living Desert and see what there is to explore. There are too many outstanding areas, to try and highlight them would... More

I haven't visited The Living Desert for some time. What a special treat to casually stroll through the exhibits without having to watch a group of children. Don't get me wrong, I had fun watching the excitement in there eyes, but now was my turn to fully enjoy, relax and learn about our beautiful desert on my time. The animal... More

The living desert was a fun family stop. The gardens were a little boring, but seeing the animals was fun. They have a nice assortment of animals. Anything from large cats and giraffes to reptiles and meerkats. Downside is that it's pretty dusty and expensive.

Feed Giraffes. Watch Cheetahs run. Ride a camel. Spin on the carousel. And check out lots of animals! This place is perfect for the kids and the adults enjoy it too. We always stop by when we are in Palm Springs. From the moment that we enter and the huge train "table" fascinates our kids, we are immersed in a... More
