Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took my small grandkids to this supposedly pirate tour of the harbor. Yes, we did tour d harbor but the captain did not look like a pirate at all. Except for the black and white stripped shirt the kids stated he looked like he escaped from alcatraz island. The boat was low which was a plus for the little ones. They could practically touch the water. We were eye level with the sea lions sunbathing at the decks and breakwater. Captain made some pirate jokes which was hohuuummm. If not for the living social voucher this trip is not worth it.

Went on The Pirate Boat Ride at Channel Islands Marina yesterday. What a waste of time. We knew it would be a tour of the harbor with some sort of Arrg factor, but did not expect to get pirated. We went on a living Social so were only out $10 as were the other adult and 2 kids on the boat. It was supposed to be a tour of the harbor showing the sites and homes around for 45 minutes. Well we waited 5 minutes in case others would join us and took off. went next dock over and saw some seals, OK. Then went out to the jetty while the captain talked on his cell phone. Got out of the harbor and sat for 15 minutes while the "captain" talked to a contractor on the phone and then to a buddy of his. Head back in and went 5 piers past our dock and turned around and docked total boating time 25 minutes. All of it with the Captain talking on his phone. He did let the 2 kids "drive the boat" so that was cool for them. But if they expect to stay in business they better put a little more effort into entertainment and not just listening to so yahoo talking on the phone.
Note had to give them 1 star as it would not let me do no STARS.
Also there are no steps up to the boat so you have to hoist yourself up 2-3 feet to get in would be hard for a lot of people. The ramp down to the dock is steep at low tide also.

Cruised Ventura harbor to view Christmas decorations on houses and boats. The cruise was nice, some impressive lights. The harbor isn't terribly large and we repeated the same route, which was a bit repetitive. It was a relaxing 90 minutes. We had a Groupon, which raised my rating, based upon its value. I would recommend for families with young children.

On a hot day in the valley, we thoroughly enjoyed the cool sea breezes on this delightful excursion in beautiful Channel Islands Harbor. The harbor is full of sailboats and some pretty spectacular yachts, plus there are some great-looking homes to see, as well as some sea lions and sea birds. We were impressed with how clean and uncrowded the beaches and the channel were on a Sunday afternoon. Our captain kept the dialogue down to a minimum, which we actually prefer, and the ride lasted longer than we expected. We felt it was a very good value considering how much we enjoyed the 45 minutes on the water. We also went farther out into the channel than we expected to, which allowed us to see up and down our beautiful California coastline. Free parking, restrooms at The Whale's Tail by the dock, none on the boat. Walk down a ramp, then a few steps up and back down when boarding the boat. Not one single complaint.

Unfortunately there is not ZERO star rating in Trip Advisor!!!! shoulda read the rating before making that Groupon 90-min sunset purchase. This business is dishonest, possibly gave away my reservation and made fake "family emergency" excuse the day before leaving me no time to book with other business with a few remainder days. D
